Poppycock. As with all laws, there are exemptions and clauses that can be used. As with the free movement of people, yet people prefer to trot the line out and blame the pesky EU for everything.

Given that there are exemptions from EU competition laws in place with regards to national security, armed forces etc, and we're currently undergoing preparations to build a new fleet of warships, and just completed two large aircraft carriers, why wasn't the steel procured there?

I'll let Donk continue to believe he knows what he's talking about though, given he gets upset and sulks and avoids the topics he's made a mug of on.

State aid is a socialist leftist measure. Therefore you should be celebrating the fact that state aid can't be given Very Happy

Those are actual quotes from our government you tool.

Try reading the news before stabbing the keyboard.

It’s EU competition laws which means that the bulk of government procurement must be awarded to other EU countries, we can’t keep it in Britain all the time we’re in the EU. I’m sure you know this as nobody is that thick.

Quotes from the same government that you say constantly publish lies and untruths?

Who's the thick one again? Go and look it up, exemptions from competition laws regarding national security etc.

I also like the fact that downrated a post that showed you up for being the clueless person you are, getting to you that yet again I'm right and you are wrong, is it?

Does Chinese steel have anything to do with these latest layoffs?

No.

UK steel plants can't compete with European ones. The massive Rotterdam steel plant is vertically integrated meaning they own the energy plant that supplies them, the mines and they have their own port facilities.

It's actually called progress.

ALL countries go through this system.

They look for ideas elsewhere copy them as a base for their own industries.

Once you get to a certain level of development you can throw engineers at it and start to improve upon and actually excel. We saw this with Hyundai, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha. They were called copies and crap for decades until they weren't. This has happened lots of times:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Made_in_Germany

So what am I saying? I'm saying you cannot rest on your past achievements.

You obviously rest on your past achievements. For instance you still mention the PriceWaterhouseCoopers from 2002 that was 17 years ago. Haven't you done anything note worthy since then.

Until they stop taking the piss, countries should be free to set whatever tariffs they want on Chinese imports. If we were free of the EU, much like Trump's saving of the US steel industry,

Cool so Trump is also a socialist too Very Happy

mpd72 wrote:
we could have done the same in the UK.

Lefty socialist policy. British steel is worthless they cannot compete. So why are you endorsing a leftist policy?

So should unprofitable coal mines be kept open then? Another leftist policy.

This is what's so fun about poking you because anybody can run rings around you Very Happy

You call people snowflake people call you back and you cry Very Happy

You slur people people slur you back and you cry Very Happy

You call others stupid yet we point out your incredible stupidity and you cry Very Happy

The US did a whole lot of cheating too as with Toshiba. But when you do it, it's OK but when somebody else does it's not OK!

Heh lefty snowflake.

Oh FYI Labour introduced the NHS. It is therefore Leftist therefore it must be dismantled and replaced with an American style health care system Very Happy

So if China is leading the field in any technology, it's ok for others to steal from them?

Really? They're only over-capacity by about 1/5 of total global production....

Sure, because if you do something then you should expect it to be done back to you.

The US has no real grounds to complain. Consider Alexander Hamilton, or even the fact that the US took British nuclear weapon research data and pretty much said yoink. Toshiba and a German wind generator are some of the more recent things.

Oh and the EVERYTHING IS STOLEN meme....

Um no there are things called licenses eventually you may one day learn how to do it yourself. As with Hyundai.

Did Hyundai steal Ford's engine? They had a joint agreement to build obsolete Ford Engines. Hyundai threw 1000s of engineers at it and developed their own based on what they learned.

This.
So it's ok to steal, as a general principle? Is there a difference between stealing ideas and stealing other property?

They will find out how well the Brexit party has done before any debated/slanging matches in the House when the bill's debated.

Cool so you're going to give us back the 23 trillion you stole from the Empire right?

Or does that not count coz you say so?

I know your defence you'll say it was a long time ago.

So you're going to pay back for destroying Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and Syria right?

NOTE the UK VOTED for this. They voted for these interventions. Therefore you kind of have to pay for it.

Oh wait when I do it then it's Fine but when somebody does it then it's not OK

In fact the UK will be giving back Diego Garcia right? As with the UN ruling today.

What's that snowflake? You can sling mud but cry when somebody does it back to you?
