Bought my Dad a hive system for Christmas, seller had 100% feedback when I paid.

The postage was taking too long, so I had another look at his feedback since the purchase & BOOM!:

Anyway, money back so no drama involved.

Got me thinking though, will he get away with? He made 70 or so good transactions over 4 months before hand, so surely there must be some traceable details on PayPal \ eBay. None as a buyer though.

It's not a massive amount of money, a grand or so, would plod even bother? Or just some chancer that think you are still anonymous on the internet.

Well you got your money back. So did everyone else I imagine. He was probably banking on people being too lazy to claim.

I did the same once with a decent looking seller.
Turned out he came back after a month as he was in an accident and was taken to hospital and nobody looked after his ebay affairs while he was being fixed up.

Ebay ended up removing all of his bad feedback.

This usually means the account was sold or stolen. A long-established account with decent feedback is worth money, because a scammer can use it to do something like what you've seen.

Wouldn't get the money back if it was stolen though.

Scamface the scam faced scammer will already have withdrawn from the stolen paypal account so he's got away with it.

All the buyers will get their money back from Paypal.
