Someone mentioned woodworking in another thread, figured I should post my wife's sentry shed here.

All work was done with hand tools (a couple of tenon saws, a mix of old marples and new Narex chisels, stanley planes, record spokeshaves, etc) except for the drilling/screwing and a jigsaw to rough cut the curved shelves from ply. Took me ages to make as I sperged out on the wood joints and was buying/restoring the tools that I needed as I went. I started around March/April and I finished in October.

Total cost was about £120 in timber, paint, fixings etc. Paint was leftover from the gate and the felt was a freebie.

Very nice it is too. How much experience of woodwork did you have to start with?

I need to get my tools out again. Not done anything for ages. Used to make Granddaughter clocks and other case clocks, tables, lamps and such things.

Hi, not a joiner by any stretch, I'm a cancer research scientist.

I'm a noob to woodwork really. I've made: the dodgy looking workbench you see in a few photos, literally a load of stolen wood, a desk top, wonky cuts and some screws thrown together, the homebrew beer crates seen in a few photos which I took more care with, and I made the green gate and fitted the fence posts/panels also seen in the pics.

This was my first proper project, i.e. first time I've used a hand plane, cut a wood joint, used a properly sharp chisel and tried to hand saw straight. Big learning experience. I did a lot of research, took my time and overthought every single detail which is why it came out OK.

Good fun, but it took a rediculous amount of time.

So while you're pissing about with bits of wood people are needlessly dying? I hope you're proud of your handy work. Now get back to curing cancer, before Adam Aarons finds out Laughing

If you are anywhere near London you could rent that out for £1200 a month.

That's a cracking job and looks very neat, apart from the padlock and bolt.
Probably stands out less in real life, but in that photo it really seems to be hitting me in the eye. Paint the bolt cream?

Shouldn't there be a crescent moon fretsawed into the door?

What's the little hatch at the top for? Spare bog roll?

Good idea to have a backup trade, they find a cure, you're out of a job. The world will always need nice shed make-ists.
