Hi all... looking for some advice if poss.

I have a 1999 Honda CBR400RR Baby Blade (NC29).

When in 6th gear it runs flat out at 120mph and 12000rpm... leaving another 2500 rpm to go before the redline... i have spoken to various people who have all said that its stil restricted as should do about 130-135mph.

They also said that there is a washer in either the speedo/tacho that acts as a magnet, when the needle gets to it, it sends a signal to the CDI, thus retarding the ignition.

Is this the case?

Does anybody know the best way to get around this?

Many Thanks in advance....

GYKD.

You can take the speedo apart and do that thing but its real hassle, and you will probably mess it up.

Better get a detrestriction box that pugs into your speedo thing.

Ive got one on mine, but i cant remember what make it is, or how exactly it plugs in. (came with the bike)

I know its really easy to fit, and costs about 20/30 quid.

P.s. www.400greybike.co.uk for ALL your 400cc jap bike needs. Somone may have 1 for sale 2nd hand, or new cheaply. Go forum part. they tell u where to get them Thumbs Up

you can also get a device from motrax , which will make it read in mph thus the de-restriction , but this will change your odo etc to read in miles.

As previously mentioned there are loads of different makes of derestriction boxes, These all basically do the same thing... fool the system into thinking the switch in the speedo unit is still open.

Have a look on www.400greybike.co.uk under the workshop section for how to replicate this yourself (cheaply) - the information is for an NC30 but it will most likely be similar for a NC29 - If in doubt check out the wiring diagram in the haynes maual (the wires seem to be the same colour)
