I lack a link pipe gasket on my Bandit, i bodged this awhile ago with chimney flue gasket stuff which worked well - ish

So i ordered a "graphite" gasket/ seal thing, tried it fit it last night an it fits over the header pipe, but not over the link pipe Confused

also, have 3 different exhaust clamps (2 are Mikalor of that helps)

51 - 55 - too small
55 - 59 - too big

and a snidey (no brand) 55-59 which is also too big. So at the moment i havent got any clamp around my link pipe to header pipe.

After refitting everything last night the bike seems alot more responsive, im guessing it had been leaking quite bad?

The gasket goes inside the link pipe not over it. Yes your bike will run like a dog with a leaking mid-pipe or headers.

If the clamp is too big, all you need is a strip of baked bean tin, or similar, to take up the slack!

Sorry Pete i explained wrong, Its like the gasket is exactly the same size as the header pipe?

I wonder if the header pipe has been crushed slightly so its now deformed...?

It was dark last night so will have a look later

cheers Thumbs Up

Yes that happens often. I would say that I have had to open the mouth of the outside tube more times than not. Also the old gasket can bake on there so well that it can be sometimes hard to tell there's any build-up at all, so check for that.
