I bought my son a fairly decent RC car to play with and i had an idea of putting mount onto his RC controller and mounting a GOPRO camera so he could see where he was going etc.

The problem i have with the Gopro and the Smartphone app is the 4 second lag which is useless for RC use.

Any ideas on how to improve this?

If its a wifi camera could you try a FPV type app for drones, they use a wifi camera, so the video may be better ?

Is it really 4 seconds, on my Hero 4 it's probably more like one second (Samsung S5) Still not brilliant though.

yep you do.

how are you going to view the image?

You can get micro tx/rx kits from banggood, or try hobbyking

I fly fpv planes Thumbs Up

the normal setup is a fpv cam, connected to tx/rx to see where your flying then have a gopro etc to record your flight

hope this helps?
