Noticed my RST Alpha jacket has come away at the seams on the back of the shoulder. I'm a bit disappointed as it hasn't had that much use really. It's got about 5k miles on it and it was bought in September 2014 so it's out of warranty. I've never had a spill in it and it's still come apart, makes me wonder how it would hold up in a spill?! (I know textiles aren't abrasion resisant but RST advertises it's double and triple stitched). Anyone else had gear come apart with little use?

I once bought some RST gloves. They started to fall apart within a few weeks.

Personally, it's put me off buying their gear again.

I always thought RST were more towards the budget end?

Managed to get 10 years out of my Rev It textiles, and are now only just starting to fall to bits.

Take it back to the store and say it is not fit for purpose and should last more than a year, my RST textiles and leathers are 4 years old and are still in good condition and I ride all year . Alternatively if you purchased with a credit card the card company will give you back up

I've never really had a problem with RST gear. The gloves were the first to go after 2 years, 2 and a half-3 years for the boots, leathers still fully intact.

Just bought a fresh pair of tractech evo boots again.

Then again I've never tried their textiles but two mates have their textiles and haven't had issues so far.

Will they bother as it's more than 2 years old? I have a pair of RST Blade gloves and they're older than the jacket and no problems with them.

It's lasted over 2 years? Confused

Talk to them first and go from there. They may well be fine about it. Be adult, talk to them. it tends to get better results than going in all guns blazing.

Doubt it. Even if they do I wouldn't be expecting a new jacket.

For future reference buy Alpinestars it's much "cooler" anyway.,

How can it be cooler ? this has built in Ventilation now.

And by cooler you mean wallet raping expensive?

If you have to tell people something's cool... it's not cool.

Decent tailor would sort that in a few minutes. Not the point I know, but it can be fixed easy enough at least.

Tailor? For a two year old budget textile jacket? I would just DIY or cable tie it like I have done with one of my shitty jackets when the zip bust.

Have you ever taken anything to a tailor in your life? Our local one would charge about £3 to sort that.

Or, more likely, it's because you're a poverty spec prole with nothing worth more than tuppence in your whole world, thus not worth repairing.

Has he always been like this?

As for RST I've noticed a decline in their quality in the last 3 years. I have an RST leather jacket that I've had for 6 years and done countless miles in all weathers that still looks and fits great whereas the stuff I bought about 18 months ago looks ready for the bin and I had 2 repairs done under warranty on the trousers and bits of trim fell off the jacket a long time ago. I did email RST about my gloves when the velcro detached itself and the reply I got was along the lines of "this hasn't happened before" and more or less told me to moan at the shop without taking any responsibility or even apologising. At least I know which brand I won't be buying from in future Rolling Eyes
