What were you wearing when you inspected the tarmac? Review needed methinks.

No-brand kevlar jeans and Regatta waterproofs (slight tear in waterproofs rendering them non-waterproof), and a Ben Sherman fashion-victim leather jacket over a MX robosuit (lost a button = seconds from death).

Held up pretty well then, you didn't seem that bothered. Obviously a bit of styling it out went on when she asked if you were OK (don't we all) but otherwise the suit took the brunt. I'm guessing initial thoughts were 'how much is that going to cost me' rather than counting toes.

Alpha is the bottom end of the rst range, but still is an unexpected failure. I have bought two RST textile jackets in the last year, a tractec and a ventilator 4, the former has done about 8k and a year and is doing the warm and waterproof with no signs of wear, the latter has done maybe 3k (so an average rider's annual mileage) and still looks new.

Blade trousers with both, they are holding up much better than the IXS Tromso they replaced, but don't look as nice.

Has that jacket failed because the seam is repeatedly pulled tight and the cyclic stress killed the weave? it looks like a failure of the weaving next to the seam rather than the seam stiching that has failed.

It's fairly loose on me so doesn't get stretched tight, and yes well spotted, it does appear to be the material that has failed. It's a real shame as it was a genuinely waterproof jacket and warm too.

Yeah there's slack in it, it's not tight.
