Parking PCN - Chaining to Lamp Post

My Google Fu is weak, edumacate me about parking fines...

If I was to elect to park my bike chained to a lamp post, can the fines escalate or punishment increase if I just keep paying the fines and carrying on with life? (occasionally changing which lamppost I use)

Essentially my work are ripping the place apart, carpark included.

If it's not going to bother anyone then you can pretty much park wherever you want.

When a man from the council comes around next spring to mow the grass then your bike will be noticed but until then no one is going to notice even to care.

Are you going to be parking there for weeks, months or years?

I seem to recall that the parking folk can't / won't move covers. If you were to protect your bike from the elements you'd be ok (I think!)?

The other pertinent aspect is whether the roads on the business park are private property, in which case any enforcement won't be down to the council. I know this is the case on at least two of our sites.

You can pretty much do what the fuck you like in regards to parking on industrial estates as a lot of the time the roads are unadopted so the council/police don't give a shit.

Apologies fellas, I misspoke about the business park bit in my Xmas inebriation.
I first posted intending to park just outside work gates, until I remembered it's private property owned by the same guy notorious for being a twat about people parking.
I forgot to delete that bit.

The picture I posted above is a spot just outside the business park next to a public single carriageway.

Cheers, I guess its worth the risk, alternatively I can keep it directly next to the work building, not chained to a damn thing.
I'll try using a cover anyway.

I have received two PCN's in my life on two wheels for parking. I just paid two for going through a no right turn but that is another thread.

The first PCN I had was for parking outside a row of shops next to a pedal bike rack. I just had to nip in and out for some groceries but that two minutes is all it took for Mr eye in the sky to ping me. The second time was on private land - one of those office sort of car parks with spaces reserved for the director, the accountant etc etc. I put my bike behind all of those on a pathway whilst I ran to the shops. It took 5 minutes for a parking warden on a motorbike ironically enough to come and fine me. He was pretty nice about it - said I've not photographed your bike very well so you might want to appeal nudge nudge wink wink, but I just paid it as realised two weeks later I hadn't and didn't want the fine jumping.

These are two times out of god knows how many that I have parked my bike wherever. You can pretty much put your bike wherever as a general rule of thumb which is great for central London. As to your question, no I don't think the fines can increase or you get in further trouble. They'll just keep on fining you. Would it be best not to park somewhere that you get a £65 PCN every day of the week or are we not talking London prices?

You cant chain to a empty push bike rack? Ive seen it done loads of times in London... And i did it once in Lynn... So umm in all honesty... Where can I park my bike? And where cant I?

Ive noticed how most motorbike parking areas in carparks and around dont have anything to lock to... How is that secure?

I mean some one can still just pick it up and plate it in a van, even with a steering lock.

I didn't lock the bike to the bike rack, I just parked it next to it as was just nipping into the shops. It wasn't an issue of putting the bike in a cycle rack it was accessing it across the pavement etc. I think you can get away with a lot on a motorbike, but I think they can get you if they are feeling poor - things like does the pavement have a drop in it designating it as place you can mount it with a motor vehicle, did you ride on the pavement or push it etc etc.

I think as long as you aren't taking the piss - blocking Glady's front door etc etc then they tend to turn a blind eye largely, but it's not to say they couldn't get you. Think they have clamped down on the local pizza shop recently as they used to just ride over the pavement but now all diligently pull up, switch the engine off and push the bike up to the shop front.
