Thanks. Stupid mistake, nothing to blame apart from poor judgement. Been a slight wake up call if honest ____________________ Used to have a Cbf 125, now on a ratty Bandit 6 |

Early this afternoon, nsl road. 150m straight, followed by sharp left hander. Start overtake of golf at start of straight ,ish, see roof of car coming around corner, too high a gear, drop gear, accelerate and pull onto my side. Didn't anticipate how sharp the corner was, speed too high, brake instead of turn more, bike hits kerb at about 30 and subsequently damages a tree, I somehow end up 2 metres down a ditch having eaten a load of dirt with visor up.
Bike slightly mangled, snapped shock, rear wheel buckled, plastics damage, few other bits and got recovered home following my "breakdown". Immediately got up, laughed it off, called myself a nob lots, apologised to the car I overtook for being a twat. He was about to call for an ambulance, not needed I said, just a few scrapes and damaged ego. This was followed by a big telling off by the Mrs, I'm an idiot etc, largely deserved.
Travelling up on map screenshot. Bike hit where you see mud, I landed in the luckily mainly empty gap around 2 metres to left of bike impact

Are we 20?
Blue van reverses into me
Said his insurer is Police Mutual, so I'm guessing he's a copper. How long before he claims I rode into him at 100mph?
Red is me, Blue is van orange is brown car.
Brown car tries to force its way through, blue van is 90% through bridge but decides to reverse. Tried to back peddle whilst blasting horn. Couldn't escape. White dots van backing up.
I've offered him the chance to buy the part and I'll fit it or to go via insurance. No response as yet.
(Rail tracks go over bridge but left out from clarity).

B+ for paint diagram. Gonna be interesting to see how the cop plays it. What damage is there to your bike / his car. ____________________ Riding: Yamaha MT-09 Tracer Occasionally Riding: 08 Suzuki SV650, Potato: 2011 Yamaha YBR Custom.

Yeah there was a screen. It detached very neatly, along with the digital speedo. Not actually broken, just detached. Scratches on front mudguard have machine polished out which is nice
Bill so far
Wheels (pair) £50
Gear selector £10
Dog bones £12
Shock, have a spare
Engine casing, have a spare
mirrors, free from a mate
Tank, not sure on price but a big dent
Givi plate, £25
Exhaust, have a spare
Lesson in consequences of poor obs and riding, priceless
Total so far £97, plus helmet and new gloves. Relatively cheap I think ____________________ Used to have a Cbf 125, now on a ratty Bandit 6 |

Never fear, now home, and I come bearing gifts:
NUMBER 21
Scenario is as follows.
Mooching casually to work, no great hurry. Drizzly, but not pissing it down. Approaching roundabout in lane 2 to get past some dozy bellend in a van. Head onto roundabout at around 40-45mph (good visibility to the right and no traffic coming.)
Get about half way round the roundabout, beginning to think about getting on the power. Front tyre loses grip on some of that shiny tar stuff they use to cover over old white markings (poor obs, I know), bike leans over rather more than I was comfortable with and lands on my leg. Bike and I slide gracefully across lane 1 and come to rest against the verge. Total distnce on its side maybe 10metres. Happily van man behind me didn't follow me onto the roundabout and could stop without running me over.
Damage to bike: brake lever, bar end, foot peg, brake pedal, engine crash guard all fooked. Some scratches to the plastics of the tank. Happily no major damage to anything expensive like the engine or the frame. Forks fine, bars not bent. Bike starts and I got to work on it.
Damage to me: Stiff knee from where it bent funny when bike landed on it, grazes on both knees, forearm and lower back. Slightly sore shoulder, not sure why though.
Damage to gear: Work trousers written off, about as much structural integrity as tissue paper. Cosmetic damage to boots, gloves and jacket. Helmet never touched the ground.
All in all, a tidy little off to start my balance with, fair play to the gear and engine gards though, worth the dolla. ____________________ CBT Acquired: 09/07/2015

Glad your not too potatoed yourself. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse.... Karma pending photos of the bike. What bike was it? ____________________ Riding: Yamaha MT-09 Tracer Occasionally Riding: 08 Suzuki SV650, Potato: 2011 Yamaha YBR Custom.

Good job, on... the diagram, I guess.
Slightly damp is more dangering than full gushing, but I guess you know that know.
I think the correct term is "BBC". ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
