It's a beauty isn't it. Checks his piece in as baggage, reclaims it and goes off to the bogs to get loaded up. That must have been one hell of a queue at the conveyor for him to go all batshit.

The little things that I can't help but LOL at:
Trump tweeting something like 'oh terrible scenes in Florida; Stay Safe!' as if there's some sort of magic way you can stop a mentalist with a loaded gun in a crowded place from popping a cap in your ass, and;
Miami airport beefing up security 'to be extra specially cautious', here's a plan guys, how about don't let random nutters with guns check them in and load them in the shitters. Oh, can't do that because your gun laws are fricking crazy? Well let's just ignore that little elephant in the room then.

For the benefit of mdp72: "Islamic State videos"

This one does look like a genuine cuckoo-bananas lone-wolf though. So, that's one.

Tbh only 5 fatalities is a bit of poor effort.

If a durka from durkastan can get 12 notches with a something as mundane as a truck.... 5 kills with a pistol in a confined space packed with people from a Oo-rah US soldier with time spent in eye-rack is a bit lacklustre.

He was probably in logistics or IT.

He was wearing a Star Wars shirt, probably trained in Stormtrooper Sharpshooting.

I'm pretty sure you could do the same in the UK with a shotgun quite easily.

Derrick Bird?

Shall we have a bit of context?

UK:
Derrick Bird June '10, 12
Thomas Hamilton March '96, 18
Michael Ryan August '86, 16

That's three mass shootings in 40 years (and I was busy taking potshots at general wildlife with a, legally permitted, pump action shotgun in the years immediately prior to when Michael Ryan ran amok, so it's not as though we don't have the weaponry in the UK for popping off a fair few numbers in one hit)

USA
2016 (in no particular order)
Fort Lauderdale, 5
Pulse, Orlando, 49
Kalamazoo, 6
Burlington, 5
Wilkinsburg, 6
Peebles, 8
Dallas, 5

This is just shootings this past year where 5 or more died and doesn't include numerous other incidents where more than one person died and excludes shootings with perps who 'only' managed to cause mass injuries.

How about a scenario in the UK similar to the topic? It should concern people more that there's no reason it couldn't happen at the bagagge point in any UK airport as restrictions on gun and munitions carriage are the same as presented by the Fort Lauderdale incident.

I think he only got five +8 wounded because he gave up.
Genuinely surprised he wasn't riddled with bullets from airport police though.

I'd be genuinely surprised if they didn't open fire and take out a few bystanders themselves.

This will be chalked up as NTDWI, but I'd have to point out that it's the results that matter, not whether he was carrying his Club Membership Card and Decoder Ring.

Sometimes I'm so terrorised that I can barely get out of bed in the morning.

The only thing that gives me the courage to go on is that snackbaristas seem to be a special kind of incompetent idiot, even when they actually are doctors and engineers.

Are you concerned that any idiot could get a few gallons of petrol and a bag full of poundland bike locks (for the fire exits) and cause far more deaths that the vast majority of shooting attacks and still have change for 20 quid?

Nope, not at all concerned, there are no Poundland stores in the US. Laughing

Hearing rumors from some independant groups that the shooter converted to islam, with the name of Aashiq hammad.

Take with a pinch of salt though.

As mentalboy points out, and as you know full well given our recent 'debate' Brick Wall, there has been one mass shooting since the firearms act 1997. Once again you have a strange perception of scale.

You really do come across as though nothing matters unless it's on the scale of Rwandan Genocide (I was going to refer to the Holocaust, but Godwin)

Well, to keep it 'to scale' when was the last time 5 people were shot in the UK?

Oh, and the Dunblane chap killed 17, not 18. Stats are wrong.
