Hi

I have a YBR250 2009 and I have the engineer management light on. I have plugged in my diagnostic box and no fault code shows up. Does anyone know what it could be or where I could look? The spark plug colour is black and sooty .

Is the light solid, or does it flash on startup?

The Light some time flickers on and some time constantly on. I know it should come on when you turn the key but after a couple of seconds it goes out again, but this is not the case with this one.

Is it going on and off in a sequence of long then short flashes?

No it just stays on. I have a the Yamaha code reader for the bike and that also shows nothing up. I have disconnected sensors and that shows up the fault but for some reason this doesn't.

If the light stays on, doesn`t that mean the bike is going to explode!?

That screams Dead/Dying battery. What voltage is it at rest, and at idle, and revving?

Battery voltage is at 12.34 volts. But what I did spot was that the terminal were a bit fury so cleaned them up and light has gone out. Thanks for the tip. Would have never thought it could have been batter related.

YBR's do that. It's a good indicator that you battery is on the way out if it does it regularly.

No still not sorted it out. Changed battery and still have light on. I have also killed to spark plugs as well any ideas?

Fault was found to be the green and yellow wire shorting on the frame. But thanks for all the ideas and possible causes.

It should have a clear, insulator around the bullet connector. Someone been dicking around and not insulated it properly?

The engine light was coming on due to a short in the ECU cable sorting to chassis ground, the over fuelling looks like it was caused by a small air leak on the inlet manifold.
But still killing spark plug for some reason. Still can't find out why??

The throttle body had to be replaced as the sensor on the throttle body was causing it to over fuel.
