my gaffer has a Nissan Navara pick up on a 55 plate

he popped into the pub for a pint last night and when he went to leave the trucks left hand indicator was flashing even though the switch wasn't on and the keys were not in the truck

he also couldn't get the truck to open as the central locking key wouldn't work and there was no keyhole to stick the key in

we tried a new battery in the key and also tried testing the battery voltage on the truck it was all fine (we had the same problem last week and managed to get in as passenger window was slightly open but this triggered the alarm so had to shut the door again)

has anyone else had this problem with a vehicle and if so any ideas what it could be ?

I would check the fuses and carriers for corrosion, if ok then the body control module connections (battery off) or the electrics inside the steering wheel. Remember the air bag.

Are you sure there are no hidden places for the key?

My Disco3 had a hidden lock on the passenger side, you had to pop the door handle cover off to get to it in situations like these Thumbs Up

googling says its on the passenger side on the D40 Navara too.

At this time of year I would always suggest cleaning out the scuttle below the windscreen. Mouldy leaves collect there blocking the drainage channels and can cause all sorts of odd problems.
