Hello everyone,

I am a rider from Nashville, TN. My first bike was a 2012 Yamaha XT250 which I still own. I bought a 2016 Harley Davidson Iron 883 this year. They are different styles of riding, but I love them both. I am soon going to be teaching my husband how to ride a motorcycle. Other than taking a MSF course, do you have any tips for teaching other how to ride?

Any and all tips appreciated.

Thanks

Well, it's good to get out as often as possible to get your skills up. Personally, I ride every day but Sunday.

In the unlikely event that you are actually a female Harley rider from Tenesee and not, as you appear to be, a Vietnamese preparing to spam your motorcycle touring site across the board. I have the following advice:

In the interests of general marital harmony. DO NOT TRY TO TEACH YOUR SPOUSE TO RIDE A MOTORCYCLE! Really.

Get him a cheapo small bike (which I believe don't even need a licence in many states, how about in yours? I know I could buzz around on a 110cc bike in Florida without having a licence), let him tear-arse about the place on that for a bit to learn how to handle one, then do the ludicrously easy test. Since everyone drives in a straight line at no more than 55mph and you'd be shot at the side of the road for lane-splitting. That ought to be enough training.

If that's you in your avatar, my suggestion would be to get a sex change before he notices you are a man or your marriage might not last to riding bikes together.
