Use the brake every now and again. That'll keep the swept surface as clean as needs be.

Discs will pick up surface rust quite quickly especially with the damp and salt due to the composition of the metal they're made from. It's nothing to worry about.

AFAIK if q disc rusts quickly it's a good quality one. Something to do with the iron content.

As above just brake that'll clean it.

Brake cleaner if it bothers you?

It'll only come back though, I wouldn't bother.

discs with iron in them stop better, it helps with braking performance

all triumphs have this, and stuffy old farts moan like fuck about it

It won't clean it off anyway as the pad material doesn't touch the inside of the holes. They are there primarily to dissipate heat.

I thought they were all stainless steel since the introduction of asbestos free brake pads? I'm happy to stand corrected?

The holes in my 2015 Triumph's discs have surface rust -- I intend to ignore it until the end of March.

Bizarre as it may sound, not all grades of stainless steel won't rust.

Funnily enough I've just been out to my bike and the rear disc has a little surface rust from getting caught in the rain yesterday.

There are many books on the subject weighing down my dad's bookshelf (metallurgist before he retired) it's one of his favourite subjects to talk to door to door salesmen about as they never return.

I cleaned my discs yesterday with brake cleaner and took the cover of this morning to find rust, excellent. Six miles latter it had all gone. Six miles because end of ride and couldn't be bothered to stop and look inbetween because, to me, non issue.

If you're asking how to clean it then either ride and use them or use brake cleaner. Spray onto the disc and wipe around and then wipe again clean with another rag. Can says test the brakes afterwards, I assume means take it easy at first.

ZR7S for the record, not that I see it matters.
