So yesterday i noticed a load of salt/grit crap congregating around my bike so nipped to sainsburys to jetwsh it off.

After i finished the bike wouldn't start (turns over, no ignition), the bike is a EXC 450...i know i probably shouldn't have used a jetwsh Rolling Eyes ended up having to push it a mile home in leathers The world's smallest violin player, just for you!

Things ive done is drain the carb and thats about it for now, tonight im going to inspect the spark plug cap for moistier ect...

Anything else you guys would recommend to check while im at it

Cheers

Your not the only one, stick it in a big oven to dry it off.
I should think it will be the ignition system wet through.
I hope you haven`t damaged the wheel bearings / brake seals.

you most probably pissed water into all the electrikatry.
Thus providing a short somewhere = lack of sparky.

Rubber bungs and covers are to keep out rain water etc and most probably not good vrs jet washers.

you can use some WD to dispel water until you get a good spark again.

Yup, WaterDisplacement-40 all over anything remotely electrical. I killed my GPZ500 with a regular hose, let alone a jetwash, WD-40 resurrected it. <Teflonian ramble about having to spray it inside the distributor cap on cars back in Nineteen Dickety Six to deal with condensation>

If it'll fire with easystart being sprayed in the air intake, then it'll be a fuel problem.

However it's far more likely that there's no spark. Could be damp in the plug leads, or anywhere in the ignition system. I'd start with the plugs and work backwards.
As Rog suggests, WD40 everything as you go.

I've jet washed my bike numerous times without issue, but I do take care to distance the blast from bearings and anything electrical. I also shoved dielectric grease in every electrical connector I could find when it was apart for servicing.

Plugs caps and HT leads are most likely problem areas.
A jet wash used not-too-close won't be much worse than all the salty spray on a main road.

It's worth cleaning the Earth Strap too, I doubt it solely caused the issue but they get manky and do not turn over as strongly. When mine struggled to start I found a few seconds with a file on the frame and strap sorted it right out.

The electrics on my EXC get a regular dose of WD40. They are pretty exposed to jet washes.

I'd just spray the heck out of it first before you start taking parts off, as it's unlikely to be anything too serious. This really is what WD-40 is for.

Not really helpful I know, but the times I've jet washed my bike(s) I've always kept it running and the hose a couple of feet away and always moving.

Well done that man - huge sigh of relief I'll bet. Condolences on the push with leathers on......
A couple of weeks ago I washed my little 250 down and rinsed it off carefully with the garden hose on a fine gentle spray. BUT - I did this immediately after a run, with the engine of course right up to temp. I started it up again straight after the gentle rinse and left it running while I sponged off the cycle parts I didn't go anywhere near the plug leads while I was doing this lol - many years ago I was riding a mate's 1952 Speed Twin in the rain and one of the plug leads jumped off - guess who leaned down and grabbed it to pop it back on? How I never came off I'll never know. (one of the 'Laws of Saint Vincent' from a 1964 issue of MPH, the journal of The Vincent Owners Club' is:
"Touch not the lead of thine HT cable, for it biteth like the asp and stingeth like the adder"

Big mistake.
