So I bought a pair of Triumph kevlar jeans through eBay. They were up for £25 which looked great value as Triumph jeans are £169 on their website.

They came pretty quick and I am pleased with them apart from one thing... The stitching where the knee armour velcros to the inside of the jean had come away, but rather than be repaired with a quick needle and thread, the previous owner had stapled it back on!

Who in the right mind repairs biking jeans with staples!? Can you imagine the damage they would do to your legs in a slide? Needles(s) to say I removed them and stitched it back up.

Anyway, just thought I would post a thread about it and vent a little. Has anybody else bought something (through eBay or otherwise) that has had a dodgy repair?

I would be inclined to ask myself if wearing substandard "protective" clothing would be wise if the stitching comes apart especially for £169 rrp.

I should have explained better, the supplied armour is surrounded by a fabric pouch which has a strip of velcro on it. The strip of velcro had started to peel away from the pouch and been re-attached with staples. The jeans themselves are perfect.

I'd have glued it or used double-sided tape.

What's your eBay I.D?

Just so I know if I plan on buying any more Very Happy

Joking aside, at least that wouldn't savage the inside of your legs like half a dozen staples would do.

Very Happy

It's funny but I was half expecting someone from the spelling police trying to correct me!

Yeah, and that was the last time I left it next to the lube, too.

I patched my leathers arse with a bit cut from a Karen Millen handbag, lovely soft leather. unfortunately it wasn't the handbag my missus meant me to use!
