Hello peeps

I've gained some heated gloves and a heated jacket for my elephant rally trip , I'm going to connect them up with a in line fuse so

The jacket states it's 150watt and the gloves are 30 watts each .

I've had a look at the ohms law , I=P/v , I've got 17.5 amp ?

I'm hoping I've missed something or that's a massive draw .

If so would my ER5 handle this plus a sat nav and phone charger ?

Thank you

Chris

Your calculations are correct current draw will be 17.5 amps. Don't know the alternator output for an ER5 but have you considered a trailer holding a generator for your trip.

I was hoping I was wrong , seems a lot current on an older bike .

I'll have a nose for the alternator rating .

Trailer would look cool full of batteries .

Thank you

WTF?
210 watts for heated jacket and gloves?
Not sure your alternator will even put that out, if it does
I seriously doubt the charging system will have anything near that as spare capacity.
Broadly speaking you're probably ok up to say 50W/4A on most bikes,
after that you're chancing it.

Tip:
Insulate first, heat after
the better you insulate/protect the less you have to/need to heat.

if its a high load, what about fitting a couple of these so you can switch between jacket power and gloves power,
