The pain of it all! Newbie and naive I know. But I am at least trying to do a bit myself.

Bought new spark plugs i/c the manual. Bought nice new 10mm dedicated socket. Put one against the other in the shop. Fine - good to go.

Now bike is stripped I find this socket doesn't connect with current spark plug thread hex. It fits neatly down the hole as well so I can't see any other fitting down there. Haynes Section 1. Naff all. Refer to Section 5 which suggests refer back to section 1. What a joke! Can anyone who has suffered in such a way offer some guidance please?

Much appreciated.
Steve

Bike is VFR800 FIW 1998

If it's like the Africa Twin (the old type) then the hole narrows too much for a normal spark plug socket to get all the way dow due to the wall thickness of the socket. I used the spark plug spanner that came with the bike which is just the old fashioned box spanner type.

Thanks chatty man. Found the thing that came with the bike. Der! It worked. Just hope I got them in straight. As for Nora - you can get tablets for it!
