Shifty

Okay so my Arai has a few light scratches on the shell, partly caused by me using a slightly abrasive cloth to get rid of some insects in the summer..

Any ideas how to get the finish back? Can I use regular polish?

Cheers Thumbs Up

Morrisons finest value/cheapo/economy furniture polish should do the job. Could set you back over 40p though.

Standard BCF answer is Mr Sheen. Which works surprisingly well on many things.

Be interesting to see how well a UV protection product worked.

Something like aerospace 303. It's a water based UV protection product, you rub it well in with a microfibre cloth. It does a fantastic job on a motorcycle dash and those rubber gaiters you get round mirror stems. Stops it fading in the sunlight too.

I first came across it for protecting canoe hulls from UV damage.

Might not come up as a high gloss finish though. I've not tried it on a highly polished surface. Certainly wouldn't physically damage it.

I have used both crystal glo and super resin on the outside of the visor, doesn't affect it any. If anything when it rains the water repelling is fantastic helps with removing bugs too, only need a bit of wet kitchen towel laid on for a minute or two and they wipe straight off

I tend to spend quite a lot of time polishing my helmet.

As for my lid I just make sure the visor is clean.

I'm a wanker.

As a semi enthusiastic car detailer when the mood takes me, I'd use Autoglym SRP to remove as much of the
scratching as possible, then apply a glaze to fill any remaining micro imperfections (poorboys black or white hole depending
on dark or light paint) then finish with a winter wax(Colinite 476s). But then again I already have all that stuff on the shelf. Laughing
