I've got an almax series 3 which is 2m long.

I can transport it in a rucksack but it's s bit of a nightmare, takes up a lot of space and it's pretty heavy.

Can anyone recommend a decent tail pack that my Almax chain will fit in?

There was a time when Almax or Pragmasis I can't remember which actually gave you a US10 tail pack when you bought one of their chains until Kriega told them to stop as they felt it being given away for free was devaluing their brand.

Kriega US10 seems great, but a tad pricey for something I just want to carry a chain in.

Is their any cheaper tail packs you'd recommend?

I've just spotted this on eBay...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Oxford-Lifetime-T25R-Motorcycle-Tailpack-Deluxe-Helmet-Carrier-RRP-50-Post-INC-/131882639869?hash=item1eb4d161fd:g:DE4AAOSwA3dYaN8y

Can then chuck my gym stuff in the tail pack with the chain. Whip the chain out, lock bike up and then just carry the tail pack into the gym (as it doubles up as a shoulder bag).

Anyone had any experiences with cheaper tail packs?

The one you link looks to be nothing more than a bag capable of carrying helmets and can't say I'd be confidence inspired, without hands on inspect, to trust it to hold the weight of a hefty chain.

Oxford or Kreiga really are the only two options IMO.

I use this one and the heaviest chain I carry comes out at 7.85kg approx. I carry other bits and bobs but that's just for comparison.

The most important thing to factor in is if you've got places on the bike to attach bungee hooks as that's what the base is and there's no alternative for underseat straps with this one.

Zip that connects the base to the bag is fiddly and not as well made as it could be but other than that I've no reason to knock it thus far. Bone dry with the WP, included, cover over it in all I've ridden in thus far.

You could check Lomo, they do some sturdy bags.

For ease of throwing on and off the bike without having to fuck about with bungee style fixings and for being solidly attached to the actual frame of the bike you can't beat Kreiga to be honest.

This is a very good point, one I didn't consider.

Looks like Kriega is the only way.

Don't expect greatness from kriega. Expensive for what it is and their customer service is non existent.

I've had it for 3 yrs and its not in great condition anymore. The ripstop fabric is not good and developed fraying. Although in the end if it lasts me 5-6 yrs and keeps the bike safe then its paid for itself I guess.

I have an Oxford T30 which has been on the bike twice. Would be happy to sell you for a reasonable price. No longer needed as my new bike has luggage

If you're in the North East you could collect.

How does it mount to the bike? If it doesn't require bungee straps i'd be interested Thumbs Up

Strap which goes underneath the seat and then additional straps around the bike

As M.C has already stated - please don't transport your chain in a rucksack unless you want to end up paralysed in an off
