I am thinking of buying some soft panniers for my YBR 125. Will I have to remove the seat to fit the strap underneath or will it go around the tail rack ok?

They have this metal tail rack to fit top boxes that comes as standard on them.

Soft panniers typically have 3 straps, 2 that go over the pillion seat and one that goes under. So, yes, most likely.

Taking the seat off is 2 mins at worst.

I suspect there's a Riveting Tale about that.

Strap stops the throw-overs lifting in the wind, when you have no pillion to sit on'em.
If seat 'locks on' also makes them harder to nick, if you leave them 'on' when you park.

Success! Unfortunately there is no way I could put the front velcro strap under the seat as well because it got in the way of the seat bolts but it works.

I think it even adds to the character of the bike somewhat. A rather haggard 125, ready to go on an adventure.

They look to be mounted quite a long way forward ... did they foul the indicators if you moved them back?

yeah they were covering the indicators a bit otherwise. Also, they were very close to the exhaust in the further back position.

not being funny, but they look to be on backwards too? usually fatter end forwards, and then they can go further back without fouling the indicators. that way you can also tether them to the rack at the back to stop them flying off - there's usually a couple of plastic D rings to enable you to use some compression straps for this.

but if not, whatever works best for you Thumbs Up

I did wonder the same, but couldn't be sure from the pic.

For the last time no it is not on backwards.

They are tipped downwards so that it is not touching the exhaust, and the photo angle creates the impression that they are backwards.

Wrong way round, the left one should be on the right and visa/versa.

huh now you included some pictures and it does appear that the panniers are the other way round on those bikes.

But it still doesn't change the fact that I can't move the panniers further back due to the indicators being in the way.
