Looking for a replacement tail for my 2000 CBR600F, ideally a plug and play one that's a bit pointier.

Any ideas?

You can swap between the banana seat and F sport versions, I think need to swap the subframe which would be very simple but no sport version on ebay..

An RR tail is designed for an underseat exhaust and a minimum of comfort. You'll just make your bike look stupid and less comfortable.

If you need a pointier tail so desperately, why don't you sell it and buy an RR?

F sport seat definitely looks better than mine, not sure if I'd prefer something pointing a little higher though, really trying to avoid cutting the subframe though but I can see that being the only option Sad

MarJay my bike is a work in progress and looks nothing like a CBR, I'm in the process of turning it into a streetfighter, I've done the front end, removed the fairings and just need to sort out the back end now. Still alot of cleaning and painting to do until it's complete though.

So. A streetfighter eh?

The thing is, back in the day when I was a teenager a Streetfightered sportsbike made sense. It was the only way to get something wide barred and naked with enough performance and handling to still be fun and go mental on the road. Even so only 1000cc bikes were generally done, and normally only ones that were pre-crashed.

Nowadays you can buy so many decent factory nakeds that it seems a waste to ruin a perfectly good sportsbike. Not just a perfectly good sportsbike, but a CBR600 which is A) hideously ugly without a fairing, and B) a 600 and therefore doesn't have the performance of what I would have called a Streetfighter when I was 19. Putting a pointy tail on it is not going to improve matters. It's akin to a flame paintjob, neons and a vast tea tray spoiler on some old beautiful '57 Chevy or something.

If you want a quick naked bike, buy a hornet and spend the extra money on decent suspension - or even better buy a Street Triple, or CB1000R or GSX-1000S or a Z1000 or a Speed Triple or anything else.

Ok perhaps not the best example... I meant bad taste mods of course.

I had in mind something more akin to this.

Yes you are right, so many beautiful bikss out there from the factory, but I want to customize my CBR myself rather than go and buy one.

I don't remember saying I want a pointy tail to improve performance?

A 600 is plenty enough for me, I'm no speed demon.

Each to their own, whilst some people don't like them, I do Very Happy Thumbs Up
