Spotted on another forum.

Don't come much cheaper than that.

Shame I don't want another pair of boots at the mo, I'd be tempted to try them at that price.

"PU leather"? Do they mean plastic? Put those on and nobody will be in any doubt as to what you're doing today. Oh, you're riding your motorbike? Nice... Well it is if all you plan to do is stop at the coffee shop, and that comprises your plan for the day. Otherwise you look like an oddity wearing those while doing anything else. Nobody will look at those and think 'sports bike enthusiast'. They look too cheap. They scream 'noob' or 'commuter'. Although what really matters is armour protection... Anyway, you get what you pay for.

First of all, M and P are shit.

Secondly, those boots were literally made by a blind 7 year old.

Thumbs Down

If you want budget gear at least try something known like Aldi (or Lidl I always get confused) boots, some people say they've lasted years and are still waterproof

I liked my £25 Lidl boots, but the zip went after a couple of months.

Held are a German make, and everything I've had of theirs has been good (mainly waterproofs).

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I've got a pair of Held summer gloves. They're very comfy and I like them, but the seams on the middle finger of each hand has come unstitched. Possible overuse of bird flip technique. But I expected more than a couple of summers out of them. Boo.

I've also got a Held 60L dry bag. That's good too, but the plastic end piece on the elastic strap came off within a few uses. That wasn't important on old bike as I used the straps instead, but on this bike the elastic would have come in handy. Boo.

So both items I have, have broken prematurely. Not great.

I get your point, but even someone who shelled out for that non-thing got what they paid for it. After all, anyone who paid into that toilet paper fund is someone who probably hasn't the foggiest idea what CGI is or what computers can do. The whole idea of a computer and what goes on to make up those colourful lights is just way beyond a lot of people. That little animation probably lit up their imagination and inspired them for as long as they were watching it on their amazing magic boxes. So it was the equivalent of going to watch a blockbuster Hollywood movie with lots of special effects in the cinema, with the added bonus of being made to feel like they belonged to something (a beleaguered community of heroic riders stalwartly defying death by going out in the rain). Ironically, the same two factors that the marketers of motorbike footwear seem to have in mind - the promise that if you buy and wear them you'll get the full-on Power Ranger experience as well as the feeling of belonging to something exclusive and alien to the human race with all its shoppers and boring lunchtime eaters. The race of death-defying bikers. LOL. Never overestimate the mean IQ.

Same here.

Why so much hate for Held gear? Have those of you knocking it actually owned anything made by Held?

Like I say, my glove seam failed within a very short period. That said, I've seen other gloves do the same, so.

The crash helmet and armoured gear generally gives it away too.

What do you ride in, shorts and flip flops?

Still using mine after three years Thumbs Up
However I am a fair-weather biker even if it does rain every time I take my bike out of the garage.

Therefore, you've only used them 3 times in 3 years?

They are cheap shit. If you want warm comfortable goretex boots for not a lot of money look no further than Alpinestar web goretex.[/quote]

I have the Alpinestars web goretex, great boots, it took me buying a few pairs of shit boots to realise that if I want to keep my feet dry goretex is the only way to go.

I ride 80 miles a day though and in the pissing rain athgh speeds unless you have the best gear then the water will find a way in.

If you have nothing else to do all day, or if you're a courier with no reason to remove your bike gear or change into normal clothes, you can wear your Power Ranger/Action Man plastic boots in the high street. Otherwise, it's more convenient to wear army- or touring-style boots that look inconspicuous. A 60-litre rucksack isn't enough to carry an armoured jacket, trousers and boots and/or a change of unrumpled civilian clothes. Definitely isn't enough for a helmet either. Sometimes you can just forego the TMNT costume and trust you won't die. You know, like people used to do before they became Teletubbies.
