Pretty sure the YZF600R Thundercat forks go straight in, and are more adjustable and take the better blue-spot brakes.

It's also not uncommon for people to put an entire R1 front end on I believe. Not sure how much work, but not too bad I would presume.

I've seen them with Early R6 forks on, I don't how much work it is though.

This, though the original forks can also take blue spots (or whatever other spots, or the Brembos that Yamaha sometimes fit). I think you need the Thundercat mudguard also, but not 100% because I didn't do it. I went the cartridge emulator route instead.

Fitting an R1 (or whatever) front end is difficult. The TRX uses a very long stem on the bottom yoke that will need to be pressed out and pressed in to your new front end of choice. R1 (or anything remotely modern) forks are also a whole lot shorter than the original items so the front comes down a long way which reduces ground clearance and can make for a twitchy ride. It also looks a bit silly. The new front will also mess with the lockstops which is an MOT fail if the steering goes too far and you'll lose the steering lock which is annoying. You'll also lose the speedo because you'll have no drive for it.

Many have fitted a YZF750 front but those forks are far from cutting edge, and Thundercat or emulators seems to work just as well.

There are a couple of pairs of forks on ebay for about £150, or Thundercat forks for the same kind of money. Or you can get a replacement stanchion from Wemoto for £112.50 plus post. Up to you really, there's no magic fix for that.

If you use the bike through bad weather don't get a pattern stanchion. I had one that pitted again in less than a year.
