I bought an indoor smart trainer for the push bike, anyhoo i thought a large screen or projector would compliment it nicely so i had a look on ebay of a cheap projector.

And found these

Does anyone have one(a mini projector in general), what the picture like, obviously for ~35 quid I'm not expecting super hd cinema quality

It's all about the contrast ratio for what you're doing. More is more.

The darkest black it can do is the colour of the screen. The screen is only actually black in a totally dark room. So to make the image appear normal in a lit or partially lit room, the difference between the blackest black and the whitest white needs to be as high as possible.

The contrast ratio of my middle of the road optoma home cinema one is 23,000:1 and the picture is pretty poor if the lights are on/curtains are open. The one you're looking at is 800:1

So blackout the room, you'll probably get a reasonable picture. But I do mean blackout.

I think you'd be better off with a second hand VGA one (like from a school or college) with a decent light output for the sort of money you're looking at spending. Price up a bulb before you buy.

On the other hand for the use mentioned he won't be studying contrast ratio.
The price is very good compared to 'recommended' ones new at £200+
The problems will be poor if any documentation in Chinglish and no back up whatsoever if it fails after a week.
I'd give it a go considering you might only use it a few times.

I tested one out my brother bought last year but forgot the fucking name of it! It was bought for sub £200 second hand on ebay (wrong category listing) and it was really, really good. I compared it to my Optoma and it was nowhere near as bright but for less than 200, bang on.

All I remember was it was quite small, like the size of a CD case, so it would have been LED and there's so many of those on the market now. Also think it ran on Android as it had loads of media options.
