This is a bargain as it should only take a long day to fully inspect it,

The reason i decided to change this to a 390 is for the cheaper insurance and i only have a CBT

So I asks him, I says, "Do you have the V5C and keys, does it bump or have you tried shorting the solenoid, and when's the MOT due?", is what I says.

Seller wrote:
Hi i have v5 and both keys,I have tried the shorting the solenoid method and it does turn over the engine but as its a newish bike i Didn't want to ruin anything, the mot is due ,I'm selling as I've had it sat up since Christmas and although I'm capable of repairing it myself it's quite fidgety and Time consuming but it's a genuine bike with nothing to hide.

The fairing is of at the moment as I was planning to get stuck in myself.

So:

Bike does spin but won't fire. Probably spaghetti wiring and a mix and match of electronomics.

Won't pass MOT because of the engine swap.

Easy fix, could do it myself easy, easy mate, just hadn't had time for 5 months and besides, I don't like money.

The kicker? That's above "private good" price for a 2012 Duke... whatever.

Oh, Gumtree, you don't half make me laugh. Laughing

I see he's edited the ad, it's even more bizarre now

Quote:

This is also a brand new unridden frame as on my original 125 had Some spot rust so o decided to order a new one from KTM which cost me £660

the bike has only covered 1700 miles before the problem arose, this bike is Hpi clear

somewhere on the loom there is a crossed wire which is preventing the electric start from turning over I called ktm with the fault code and was told its a voltage issue and to inspect the loom for suspect wire cross over.

This is a bargain as it should only take a long day to fully inspect it,

The reason i decided to change this to a 390 apart from the obvious is for the cheaper insurance and i only have a CBT

Mot has expired but as i said it's covered 1700 miles which is nothing.

If you total this build it cost just short of 5k.

Any half knowledgable person could fix this and the full mechanical manual is availible online free!

I was interested enough to ask the cromulent questions.

There will be some plank out there who won't ask them or won't care about the answers because breakin-the-law, breaking-tha-law.

So it actually is a 390 that he's lying about being a 125?

Er. Right.

I suspect the same area and I haven't even seen it. It's somewhere between the headlight and tail light.

That should save whoever buys it some time, you're welcome. Thumbs Up

If he'd sent pics, I would have posted them. He conveniently 'forgot', I guess.

That's the sort of bike I would see positives in and buy Shocked Rolling Eyes

Edit: Roger am I right in thinking that one day soon you will have a KTM 390? Is there a dealers through the West where one can test ride these things? (ahh Drysedale motors I see)

Nothing closer than Perth that I'm aware off. Sort it out, KTM (and Kawasaki, Yahama, Triumph).

Glasgow Ducati has a 390 in but not at a price that I find tempting given the high chance of fail. I'd have a cheap example, but this one is like three examples and it's not even cheap.

Well at least that's corre- awwww. Sad

I seen that on Gumtree earlier in my daily browsings, was actually going to PM you the link.

If his price was halved, I'd consider buying it for my partner to ride on a CBT, but the price is just funny. He thinks his mods make the bike worth more because it's faster...

Tempted to go see it for a laugh.

Road register.
Buy SM wheels (slot straight in).

Enjoy riding a bike that's not got performance fashioned after a tractor! Smile

D) Bring to BBQ. (Being light, the beemer should easily be able to cope with it!)

That's probably four stolen bikes stuck together. With stolen duct tape.

No BBQ for me; apparently you're supposed to have holidays with your family in the summer. Who knew?

Another response when prompted for photos again...

I'll get some over tommorow as its fairings removed as I was going to have a look myself, the engine size is identical but the internal workings are obviously different,

I took a lot of time researching the build before I committed to it.
