Them kittens, they sad, they die. Many times.

In all honesty, I don't think his mitigation stories did him any favours whatsoever. I'd be inclined to believe he'd have been better saying nothing.

I think the sentence is harsh. I've seen repeat drunk drivers get hit with less. His excuses without a doubt made it worse.

Seems very harsh.
No traffic, short burst on straight road the slow down to speed limit when near traffic. There but for the grace of god.........
I think his real issue was saying he didn't know the speed. Tis better to admit fair cop than make yourself appear incompetent.

As it turns out, I'm quite familiar with that road, and anywhere on the approach to Aviemore, that speed is grossly excessive. The "straights" are fairly wiggly, and there are turn offs, farm access, lost tourists and half blind white settler geezers bimbling around there to avoid the A9 deathroad. An ideal spot for a hoon, it ain't.

Since I'll be up there this weekend, I'll try to restrain my grief that I won't be sharing the road with him.

Scotchland though. It's standard practice for any excessive speeding to be prosecuted as a dangerous driving charge rather than a speeding charge up there.

Just means he pleaded guilty.

Harsh. Very harsh.

Incidentally, I think the sentence is disproportionate. But even so, he's a very silly chap for hammering it down the obvious spot for a speed tug.

That paints a somewhat different picture to the press report of 1000 yards of straight road. Certainly not advisable.

4 months? Christ, what would he have got if he'd plead innocent and found guilty? The kid that killed my brother only got 17 months....

A mate of mines brother had a car crash when he was pissed. It was a big one 2 cars written off and he severely hurt someone.

He was sentenced recently, got an 8 year ban and 200 hours community service and I think a fine of about £500.

What he did IMO was an order of Magnitude worse than what Jock MacSpeed did, doesn't seem fair.

In his defense, He'd had a row with his missus, it was a really out of character thing to do. He is a good lad not a scummer, he copped to it straight away and was genuinely really sorry.

You kind of think if you were buzzed at that speed you might as well just keep going and take your chances with a must have been a cloned registration excuse as I was at home in bed with a sore tummy.

Gray got a 5 year ban as well as the 4 months.

Pretty savage considering in 2016 there was a bloke in a Seat Leon who got caught doing 154mph; his sentence? 56 day ban and a £365 fine. I imagine he had a good lawyer, unlike our friend here who was stuck with a bloke called Willie.

More to do with where it happened. As I said, Scots popo treat that sort of speed as dangerous driving, whereas in England (barring any other aggravating factors) it's 'just' speeding. And you're unlikely to get jail time for speeding.
