So I was just looking up some cheaper alternatives for a 600cc, a cheap intermediate before I can afford something like the er6n/z600...

And Im shocked to see that still, some publishers think its ok to shove a scantly clad glamour model with impossible huge boobs and arse in a stupidly small thong... and think this is how to sell motorbikes?

Really, i find it insulting and if anything cheapens the quality of the bikes design.

Maybe because Im not of the straight persuasion I find such things a real put off and winds me up.

I can still appreciate a good looking women. But not slpade all over a car or bike.

So tell me, you straight lot. Does having a women with her funbaps out make you want to buy that bike/car even more than before?

PS I realise the topic title could be viewed as sexist, but it was meant to be a kinda satirical flip of sexist language to fight sexism..............

It's probably quite telling that I was more offended by the spelling.

Well fixed the spelling :p

but seriously. Why does motorsport feel the need to stick some pretty lady on something, as if the sport was exciting enough on its own merit?

Even F1 still does it. Though it tends to be ladies in tight t-shirts.

Im not trying to be like some pro feminism nazi, I just think it belittles women and the thing they're being used to promote.

I get what you are saying. I like looking at pretty ladies, but it does always look really awkward when you have some model draped over the bike (including at bike shows where there'll be a model in a tight manufacturer's t-shirt and spandex trousers sitting on it). The girls appear to have little interest in bikes other than being paid a daily rate to act as booth-babes.

Now if they had a lady dressed in well fitting bike gear, who obviously knows how to use the bike rather than treat it as a pseudo-erotic prop, then that is always worth looking at Smile

Sorry links long gone in the depths of browser history...

And I can be fun at parties too :p

I realise the models are paid a lot for the job. I get that. And thats why I feel it also belittles the product/sport... But its the objectification that winds me up. I have little against fashion modelling for instance. (Outside of the emotional abuse and bullying in the industry) Its more sophisticated, its more an art form. If the glamour model was all up in sports leathers and look genuinely interested in the sport/product. I wouldn't be making such a fuss over it. Its the whole "get your tits out for the lads" thing that really winds me up.

I love pert boobage as much as the next straight man. Having a partly undressed woman sat on a bike does make me happy but that's about it.

Same with grid girls...what's not too like....I make silent unanswered prayers for the breeze to lift a skirt... Embarassed

But I'm old and from a time when it was perfectly acceptable to see naked women on the walls of every workshop wall and builders cabin. Car garage walls were particularly informative for a young lad.

Things are slowly *evolving but using sex to sell is still very much profitable.
Men sell underpants with mahoosive bulges in and women still use makeup to make their eyes bigger and their lips redder and healthier....sexier.
Woman and men are still complicit. We're still animals doing it like they do on the discovery channel. Smile

*I've evolved from someone who didn't want to work alongside a woman, then seeing how bloody hard we worked together and the laughs we had changed that.
I liked her so much I shagged her. Thumbs Up

Lol, again...even if its in porn, thats the ladies choice. i have little issue over. So look at as many naked ladies as you like... in the right setting.

I just feel using sex it to promote sport/car/bike/product is really cheap... and from a long gone era...

And again I know sex is used to promote things all the time. At least be smart with it and subtle so not to cheapen it...

I accept paypal? ;p

I know i know... And I realise these ladies are paid well to do it.

i get that some ladies find glamour modelling a good easy way to make money, some find it hard to find normal work for whatever reason. So they use what assets they have... Heck if I was half good looking I would have considered modelling...

I just dont like the blatant use of sex to sell like this... As i said before I prefer when its smart... Subtle less VAG IN YOUR FACE!!! CAN YOU SEE MY CERVIX YET?

Only idiot Americans still get brainwashed by obvious selling techniques (watch American TV, it's a joke the adverts are like 80's/90's English adverts). Us British are a bit more refined, and it takes a bit more than a half naked woman to make me want to buy a bike.

That said i do like looking at them on the bikes, very much, less clothes the better

Cheapen away. Thumbs Up I've never bought something because it's got some bird draped all over it anyhow and
besides I regularly see many girls wearing little more than a thong and shaking what their mama gave them.
Always enjoy the tarts at the bike show too. Lets face it, I'd bet many more young girls aspire to be models than
they do gas fitters or for that matter doctors or lawyers. Gives the fair of face but dim of mind something
to do, they can't all be on the telly. Gigs like this keep them in orange paint, tooth whitening sessions and fake hair.
You wouldn't want to have them doing something complicated like your tax return that's for sure.

Tbh, with how ugly some of today's bikes are, scantily clad birds are the only nice thing to look at when they're being advertised.

Otherwise, I'm wiv arry on this.

Oh, and can we have a NSFW tag on this thread? Very Happy

I'd rather they had women in real leathers that can actually ride bikes.

However the reality is that's not what the general buying population wants and may well put many blokes off.

When a friend wanted a 'photoshoot' and I happened to have a bike needing to be sold, I did make use of her fairly scantily clad photos. Think it did help with the sale a bit too!

It should be noted that "men's" magazines are typically full of pictures of scantily clad women. And look in women's magazines... and the same, often, actually.
It does work on a good number of people it seems.

I know it's a running joke, but the 'pics or GTFO' thing always amuses me - what with it not being hard to find pictures of women on the internet an' all.
