What do?
Leave it, Rog. You always get in early enough to get a space anyway.

Fuck 'em, it's taking up space that your bikey bros need. Move it to the main road so that it gets lifted.

Move, but rip the plate off first in case that saves the owner from a Cooncil fine.

[Scootay, so not General Bike Chat]

Scene: A piece of private land habitually used for off street parking by bikes and scootays. Space is at a premium.

Background: An abandoned scootay (9 year old Pug 125). Yes, really abandoned. It's been there for over 6 months. The cover has long since gone, the chain around the rear wheel has gone. Today it was knocked over and the throttle grip had been ripped off.

What did: I righted it and moved it as far out of the way as I could within the off-road area. No steering lock, so it's easily movable.

What do, BCF?

The owner of the land could look at having it lifted? What do the MID and dvla websites say?

You've moved it out of the way to where? The road?

If it's still on the private land but you stuffed it in the corner, then you've done all you need to to make life easier without causing grief to someone else - because "lol fu-q"

I believe you're a decent chap no need to spoil that now, is there?

Why get busy?
You've done all that needs doing: uprighted it and moved it out of the way.

We're cheekily abusing their tolerance as it is - bringing their attention to it is the last thing I want to do.

Outlawz.

Yarp. It's still taking up space that someone else could use though. We're very short on parking round here, all the legit parking fills up early and this area gets rammed.

The other concern is that now that it's being trashed by the local apes, they'll get a taste for it. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_windows_theory

As intimated, I'm usually first in, so I'm never struggling for a space. I'm thinking of the biking brotherhood.

Do... do you hate the biking brotherhood? Shocked

What area is it roughly? Might even have been nicked to begin with; you never know.

Technically it still requires insurance even if it is private land - I assume it still meets the definition of public place if others are parking there? If it's not on a SORN then I'd be surprised if the DVLA haven't already tried to fine the keeper. My mate got a notice through with his bike in the garage two months after he switched the insurance to his new bike (didn't SORN).

It's not that rough, it's in the Financial Services District. [badum-tsssh]

It's no big secret: Cadogan street, outside the Q-park.

This fecker, actually: it shortly afterwards migrated to the dark corner, where it's stayed ever since.

SF08 UTP. Huh, it's actually still insured and taxed, although the MOT has run out.

Please do not steal it. Even though it's getting rekt and the owner will never miss it.

The owner might be in a hospital somewhere, dreaming of the day they can get back on their scootay. I tend to leave other peoples shit alone.

They'd better get a move on then, before it gets burned out, at which point the land owner will likely:

1) Claim off of their still extant insurance.
2) Fence off the area. Millions of the brotherhood will die.

It's a scooterist, not a person. Hand

Just goes to show though, if any scootehy in Scotchland remains abandoned for 6 months, the thieves really do already have it too easy.
Why take a Scooter nobody wants and likely wouldn't be reported stolen...
When you can nick someones Gixxer and the criminal "justice" system isn't interested in punishing you. Sad

Honestly more than anything I'm just shocked that Scotland has Financial Services at all, let alone a district.
I figured in between all the crime the Scots just bang rocks off other rocks. Thinking
