My OH bought me an advanced motorcycle course for my birthday last year. If I'm completely honest I'd have
preferred wheelie school, if only she'd asked what I wanted. She probably thinks you think she's fat. In
a "get down the gym Jabba" kind of way. It doesn't matter if you even said or thought that to be what she took
from it as they are all completely mad and appearance obsessed.

If she is claiming to all and sundry and you yourself, that you are controlling, then in my experience, your relationship is going to end soon.

Buying gifts isn't controlling, telling her she cannot go is.

She is making excuses to make herself feel better about telling you it's over. She is telling people around her you are controlling, to get them onside for when she decides to drop the bomb on you.

My advice is to shit in her handbag and then tell her it's over.

Yes it's controlling. However not controlling of her, you are trying to control what others think of you.

As in, "look what a kind, generous bloke I am doing this thing (that she never even asked for) for my woman".

You intruded where she didn't want you to, she exercised (not a pun) her own choice but you over-rode that in order to elicit gratitude from her and draw admiration/envy from her friends.
