Earphones for phone

I splashed out and bought a Huawei p9 lite today, second hand. The supplied earphones were a bit minging with ear wax and stuff so I bought a pair of poundland earphones but they are not very good, they sound tinny.

What would be a good pair to buy? I don't want to spend a lot, about £10 would be OK.

Any suggestions? I would prefer in ear types.

I quite liked the ones that came with my Z3 so looked to replace them when they broke.

Was surprised to find that they're extremely cheap, given the decent sound quality, in-line microphone and clicky button for answering calls etc. The wire is asymmetrical so goes round the back of your neck and three different sizes of buds supplied.

Nothing amazing but just as good as my Sennheiser CX300s. Also meant I could just buy a few sets as I tend to go through earphones quickly.

I use these on a daily basis when I'm riding. They are excellent and last a fair while before one stops working.

Top tip: Always have a spare pair under the seat there's nothing more frustrating that tuning into your favourite radio station and finding one of your ear phones is fucked miles from home.

If you want to spend a bit more than £3.10 or even £10 then I highly recommend Bose earphones.

Expensive expensive expensive. Not for me. I am happy with my cheapy £3.10 earphones thank you. I understand that Hi-Fi can cost a bit, a mate bought a michell syncro record deck way back in the mid 80's. IIRC you had to move the belt back and forth to play different size records.

Amazing what people will pay.

I've had mine for four or five years now. I've had various of the Sony Z series phones and I can confidently say that Bosa earphones are much better than the standard earphones. They are comfier and whilst I'm no hi-fi geek they do sound nicer as they're not at all tinny and the sound doesn't distort like other can.

Whether they're worth nearly twenty times what you paid for the Z3 ones from eBay is a matter of opinion.

Ste, I'm not tight but I don't like wasting money. That's it, no more no less. I could buy the Bose earphones but something in my head would say "Dave these cost you £60" and I'd enjoy them less. Really that's it. I appreciate that they may last a long time so overall you may get your money's worth but I had a pair of Lumia headphones for years and I dropped the phone yesterday, from a height, grabbed one of the earphone buds in an attempt to save it. Phone smashed and I pulled something internally in the headphones and only one side worked after that. I had them 4 years worked perfect.

Hence me needing a new pair. Can't get that model of Lumia headphone anymore so was after a suggestion for a replacement.

I completely see where you're coming from even though I like my Bose earphones.

As you're working on building sites then I'd be worried about damaging them. Other than the price, that's the downside to them. Okay my earphones get attached to an expensive Sony phone but headphones are more breakable and fragile.

For a tenner, you're basically going to go into HMV, pick something up off the shelf and hope for the best.
You can get in-ear ones with stringy wire, or you might get some with a 'mouldable' wire near the bud which you can wrap around your ear (like runners wear.) Whichever suits you.
For a decent balance between good sound and very cheap, I would recommend Beats Monster in-ear headphones.
I got a pair when HTC owned them and they were pretty awesome. You can pick up a new pair for less than £20.

As I said, when I had them they were owned by HTC. Now they're owned by Apple and I've not done any research as to whether they still have a 3.5mm jack (I assume that they do though).

For those that break them regularly (like me) then RHA (small Glasgow based firm) do really tough pairs. Awesome sound too but they are expensive. I also like Sennheiser.[/quote]
