I quite liked the ones that came with my Z3 so looked to replace them when they broke.

Was surprised to find that they're extremely cheap, given the decent sound quality, in-line microphone and clicky button for answering calls etc. The wire is asymmetrical so goes round the back of your neck and three different sizes of buds supplied.

Nothing amazing but just as good as my Sennheiser CX300s. Also meant I could just buy a few sets as I tend to go through earphones quickly.

If you want to spend a bit more than £3.10 or even £10 then I highly recommend Bose earphones. Wink

Socks have threads, don't they?

This one's been quite funny; I work selling headphones and earphones can get a tad pricier than £60 -

https://www.aloaudio.com/shop/andromeda/

Although you shouldn't need to spend more than £750 really.

The full size ones can go for 5 grand -

https://www.audioaffair.co.uk/abyss-ab-1266-headphones-deluxe-package

Or if you're feeling flush, the Sennheiser Orpheus 2 is about 30 grand. I've tried that one but had to listen to Pink Floyd Thumbs Down

Or you can put a deposit down on a HifiMAN Shangri-La which will be about 40 grand -

https://www.audiosanctuary.co.uk/hifiman-shangri-la-reference-headphone-system.html

(no links to my place by the way)

Meh.

I've had mine for four or five years now. I've had various of the Sony Z series phones and I can confidently say that Bosa earphones are much better than the standard earphones. They are comfier and whilst I'm no hi-fi geek they do sound nicer as they're not at all tinny and the sound doesn't distort like other can.

Whether they're worth nearly twenty times what you paid for the Z3 ones from eBay is a matter of opinion. Laughing

Laughing

I completely see where you're coming from even though I like my Bose earphones. Razz

As you're working on building sites then I'd be worried about damaging them. Other than the price, that's the downside to them. Okay my earphones get attached to an expensive Sony phone but headphones are more breakable and fragile.

That's a trap many fall into, they're listening to the equipment rather than enjoying the music which is the main thing. If you like your £3 earphones then there's no problem.

However if you ever have the chance to listen to higher price models then give them a go. I might liken it to watching a film on a TV screen with the sun shining on it, versus going to the cinema (obviously with a decent film on).

For a tenner, you're basically going to go into HMV, pick something up off the shelf and hope for the best.
You can get in-ear ones with stringy wire, or you might get some with a 'mouldable' wire near the bud which you can wrap around your ear (like runners wear.) Whichever suits you.
For a decent balance between good sound and very cheap, I would recommend Beats Monster in-ear headphones.
I got a pair when HTC owned them and they were pretty awesome. You can pick up a new pair for less than £20.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Monster-Beats-by-Dr-Dre-iBeats-In-Ear-Headphones-Earphone-Black-White-/142228683710

They also double-up as a hands-free kit.
As I said, when I had them they were owned by HTC. Now they're owned by Apple and I've not done any research as to whether they still have a 3.5mm jack (I assume that they do though).
Reviews go from 'alright' to 'great' with What Hi-Fi scoring them 4/5.

If they don't work out then the CX300 really are great for the price (you should be able to get them for not a lot more than a score).

Again, wasted on my cloth ears, thanks though for the recommendation, the £3.10 jobbies will suffice me thinks.

Sennheiser do £10 ones.
You wont find better at the pricepoint.

For those that break them regularly (like me) then RHA (small Glasgow based firm) do really tough pairs. Awesome sound too but they are expensive. I also like Sennheiser.[/quote]

I disagree on the 'shite' part, but I don't have the Seinheisers to compare, so whatever. It seems that the dude is happy with his £4 ear-shredders anyway.

ask any audiophile what they think of beats... cheap Chinese bad build quality shit sold at over inflated prices due to branding. Muddy mids, bass heavy awful sounding garbage ... a quick google can confirm this

granted this is on ears, but similar across their range
