Afternoon all,

Today I decided to adjust the chain on my CG125 as it's been getting a was looking a bit loose. Annoyingly I found 3 properly seized links. The chain is a crappy Swift non-oring chain that sat still in Aberdeen for over a year prior to my ownership so it's not really surprising it hasn't stood up to the winter. It was cleaned and lubed every few days but I work shifts so there's no way it's getting done after every ride. I'm going to try and free them up (it's soaking at the moment) to see if it can last the remainder of winter but it's not looking likely at the moment.

Anyway I'm looking for a replacement. What are your thoughts between an o-ring chain or a standard non-o-ring chain (both DID) ? If going for the non-o-ring I'll probably fit a fully enclosed chain guard or my spare auto oiler (it currently only has the top chain guard).

If it was for the bigger bike I'd definitely go O-ring but the cost difference is more than double and I'm a bit skint having just bought a big batch of bits including new shocks for my CX project! I can get a chain guard and a standard chain for significantly less than the o-ring one. I've never used a non-o-ring chain before except the shitty Swift one so I don't know what they're like generally.

Tempted just to go o-ring but don't know that it's worth it for the 125 run around when the standard chains/sprockets are so cheap.

just get a nice cheap chain, no need for an x or o-ring chain for a 125. All you need to do is clean it and keep it lubed

£26.50 for a DID chain & sprocket kit from M&P on ebay.

As above, just keep it lubed.

Yeah decided just to go cheap. For the cost of an o-ring chain I can get at least two normal chain and sprocket sets so I'll just fit the spare Tutoro like I'd planned before.
