My heating / hot water is playing silly buggers. I *think* it might be the valve/pump but I'm unsure.
Radiators are hot upstairs, cold downstairs and the hot water isn't very hot at all. Hot water pipe is very hot, return is luke warm (at best). I've bled all the radiators.
I have one of these:

The little arm (indicated) on the side moves freely left and right with almost zero force - I'm unsure if this is normal or if I should feel resistance while moving it.
Any ideas as to the possible issue? ____________________ Honda CBF125 ➝ NC700X

What sort of system do you have? Is it fed from a tank in the loft or do you have a combi boiler?
If you have a combi in a closed system, what you describe is typical of a sytstem that's lost pressure. Sometimes just needs more water letting into the system via a filling loop. Sometimes needs the pressure vessel re-pressurising (bicycle pump and pressure guage), sometimes means the pressure vessel is kaput (there's a rubber diaphragm in them that can burst).
Worth a chack anyway. If it's a combi, there should be a pressure guage on it somewhere. Should be reading in the region of 1 bar. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Looks like the pump has gone. It's very hot to the touch and although I can manually rotate the shaft it's not doing it under power.
Spent yesterday poking about. Need to get a heating / plumber in - my record on plumbing isn't a good one.
Every time I put money aside for something, this fecking house comes up with a reason to take it away. ____________________ Honda CBF125 ➝ NC700X
