Anyone else getting pissed off with the wind speed in the Essex area. Makes commuting to work a lot less enjoyable.

Obvious not as bad as in the north but has put me off going fast.

Been just shy of 50mph here the last three days. Saturday was bitingly cold so I didn't bother. But I was out for a few hours today and had a fair old blast - roads were bone dry for the most part. I ride a small naked bike though so don't really notice it that much.

Dustcart day is shite as well, having to weave my way round the black/pink bags on the road.

It's been windy for about 2 weeks now, wish it would just piss off.

Maybe its just my shite driving combined with my bike. high riding position + as about as aerodynamic as a billboard.

Too right, wind is doing my head right in, not too bad on bike but sitting at 60ish on A130 instead of usual.. wind / rain it seems ages between dry roads. I'm from the north original emigratted down here about 12 years ago n I've never known it so wet and windy, is like being back up in the peaks... At least it's not cold only used my winter gloves for about a week so far.. hoping it clears up for spring.

I nearly changed lanes a few times unintentionally tonight when riding up the M11.

But........... when I turned right on to the A120 I had the wind behind me, my fuel consumption went from about 45mpg up to about 75mpg at motorway plus speeds.

haha. f you.

I don't mind snow or rain but I'm not a fan of wind. Don't like fog either.
I need to get myself a nice car/van this driving 365 days a year is crap. I want to smoke a cigarette and listen to the radio while playing angry birds on my phone.... Wish I never sold my 525i now. Rolling Eyes

If I were you, I'd ring the Met office and ask them to turn it off.

Cling onto the tank with your legs and very loose grip on the handle bars and it's not too bad.
When stopped at lights put your leg a little further out than you normally would so you lean the bike over a bit, it will feel a bit more stable.

If you think about it, it's always immigrant weather to blame.

When's the last time you heard of a storm starting in Coventry?

because the string would snap?

But I agree. Man the fuck up. Go faster has less of an affect. The extra push from behind means that I can get work in 5 minutes less than normal.

Commute is fine. It's actually being at work that's been murder for the last week or two. I work in a glass factory and glass has to be rather warm to get melty (1500 celsius as it leaves the furnace)
No wind, the heat just goes straight upwards and it's alright.
Lots of wind, the heat can't escape as easily. It also evens out so that instead of having super hot parts and nice room-temperature bits, it's all around 50 degrees.
Yorkshiremen were not built for the desert.

I was swaying that much on the M1 on Sunday night that I thought I'd had a blowout on the rear tyre. Brown pants time

Leaning, leaning, leaning, front wheel begins to chatter. Nope. But that was a) in north yorkshire and b) on the a1 heading further north. I changed my plans. Wind set my alarm of repeately on thursday night. I disconnected the nudge sensor for the rest of weekend lest my neighbours come for me with pitchforks.

On the motorway, is faster or slower safer in that there wind? I know the theory test tells you to slow down (but then it also tells you some other right guff)
