I dont see how that has any bearing on the benchmarking, unless you are saying Antutu can unlock the CPUs to make them faster?

Looks Specs are bollox anyways. (To an extenent)
And antutu is not real world.

I can tell you the s905 unit I have runs SIGNIFICANTLY faster/better then my pi2 and fire stick.

I have a s912 coming next week just for the added Bluetooth for emulators

I was going to buy a RPI 3 but honestly the s905 are worth it.

Antutu also has the iPhone 7 at ridiculous numbers but we know there Apple don't use the fastest CPUs just optimise the software better.
Saying that the s7 edge runs much better than my wife's iPhone 7 and their difference is over 50k

Bearing on your claim. This is interesting (old vs new): https://www.aftvnews.com/benchmark-comparison-of-fire-tv-stick-2-to-all-other-fire-tv-models/

Cross OS benchmarking is bollox for sure.
You can't realistically compare antutu benchmarking on iOS to Android, but you can Android to Android.
That's its basic function. Of course it's not real world, but it takes a range of tests based on real world functions and delivers a score based on the results of the combined tests.

Actually just re-read that and he's using a Fire 7" tablet rather than the new TV stick.

Having a box that plugs into your TV and stays there when needed is much more preferable than using a handheld device.

Addons I use most are Exodus for Box Sets and Movies and Pheonix for the amazing content they have in there.

Glitchy on my android tablet and doesn't work on my phone. I've yet to try it on my iPad to see how it performs (that'll be interesting Smile). What I like about the stick is it plugs into the TV, I power it from the USB port. Same as pjay I mainly use Exodus, Phoenix sometimes for sports, although normally if you can find a working stream it's crap quality. Tried UK turk and zem tv for sports but they seem kinda naff.

I like the neatness and portability of the Firestick - plug into HDMI on any TV/monitor and power from a short USB cable.

Power is adequate for most people's needs and it's cheap.

But with a box you can cuddle it at night Smile Just tried Kodi on iOS, with the skin (someone) created it works rather well. Not sure how it works with developer app signing, I think I read somewhere it expires after a week. I'll see what happens but for now I'm happy Thumbs Up

You can and I do have my box behind the tv with it powered from the USB. in the back.

There is no reason anyone should buy a firestick for kodi, when there are more powerful devices out there for less money.

If you have a firestick, then by all means open it up to the world of kodi and make it much better than it is as standard.

If you buy a firestick with the intention of using it for kodi, you are either mis-informed or a moron.

I am neither misinformed nor a moron thanks. Quite arrogant of you to say so.

I use Amazon Prime more than I use Kodi - it woks very well for that.

I watch Netflix on it occasionally - works well for that too.

I use Kodi occasionally - it works perfectly adequately for that.

I don't want yet more plugs and trailing wires behind the tv - ticks that box.

Very cheap on Black Friday - must've been a moron to go for that deal

Different people have different requirements. Don't assume that the solution that you like is the one that fits my needs!

An android box would have done all of those things better for less money.

Just because you feel happy with your purchase, does not mean you did well.

You overpaid for something, get over it, we all do it from time to time.

I paid £400 a DVD player once.

Oh wait!

Are you saying you knew that the firestick was 3x slower than a cheaper android box that you can also mount behind the TV out of sight and have no trailing wires and yet you still went ahead and purchased one anyhow?

This may upgrade you from misinformed to moron.

From what I've read Amazon are a bit stingy when it comes to support for their app (on other devices)? What would be the cheapest box BTW? I saw this one but it looks like it's mains powered: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Android-6-0-TV-BOX-X96-New-16-1-FULLY-LOADED-S905X-WIFI-4K-Movies-2GB-16GB-/222432280668?hash=item33c9ff405c:g:Oj0AAOSw4CFYvr8y Also not sure about that feedback Smile

Edit: actually looks usb powered as well.

So how much is a box then?

I would be very surprised if it's any where near the £19 I paid for my Fire stick, the 10 mins to load Kodi and what I wanted.
Then throw in the ability to simply remove from TV and transport where ever needed without having to remove wires.

Yes boxes may have faster cpu's etc and better specs. But only do the same.

Please remember that everybody wants something different. Thumbs Up

That would more than likely be fine.
It's in China though, so expect a wait time.

Seems a little cheap, but in all fairness, they are one chip devices in the sense that virtually everything is done by the Arm chip, so if it's got a 905X chip in it, I wouldn't imagine you could go far wrong. These manufacturers are getting very good these days, the soldering is usually top notch, unlike 18 months ago where they seemed to be soldered by kids on work experience.

I'd buy it just to show people I Paid £10 for it.

£10 as above surprising enough?

So you bought the firestick for its portability?
Why not just use it for that and use a box for your TV? Best of both worlds.
