You get motorcycle taxis abroad, is it possible here? Would an Uber type service work?

I believe it's already been done in London. They used Honda Pan's as I recall.

Yup I've used one in London. It was hellish expensive but got me where I needed to be in the time I had to get there, so.

Yes there's a company called Limobike, amongst (presumably) others.

I'd imagine, cos ded kittenz, to be a limobike operator you have to have retired from 20 years riding for the police or DSA or whomever. Unlike Uber drivers, Addison Lee etc who simply need to demonstrate a complete incomprehension of the concept of lane discipline.

Yeah, I did think the liability insurance would make it expensive.

I rode the Pendalino to Stafford once....
I WAS scared it wouldn't stop! It would probably have been the only virgin within 50 miles!

I presumed it's already happening here in the UK, as I always see motorcyclists using the Bus/Taxi only lane on my commute home...

I want Kenny Wong from Scotchland tae batter fuck oota it.

I'm sure when Rainpal is available, their premiums will plummet.

There was a company a while back who rocked up on a folding moped, and drove you home from the pub in your own car with the 'ped in the boot.

I thought that was a great idea.

Billed itself as being a "similar cost to a taxi home and then a taxi back to retrieve your car".

So essentially, twice the cost of a taxi. And then a bit more.

Also the scootays looked like a right pain to dismantle and store in the boot. Some sort of electric folding bike would have been better.

www.scooterman.co.uk says "We save you money too being better value then using 2 taxis."

They've got a page on their website for getting quotes which I think might be broken as it wants £335 for going four or five miles across Reading. Laughing

Your scooterman personal chauffeur will "be over 22 yrs of age, have a full clean driving license, a CBT or bike license and have good local road knowledge".

I assume you're paying for Scootayman to wobble all the way from Wanstead or Streatham (or wherever their railway arch is) to the Purple Turtle and home again, as well as the 10 minutes his trusty steed spends leaking brake fluid in your boot.

Their website says that Reading is one of the areas it's available in.

They want £30 for going the half mile from Waterloo to Big Ben with the folding scooter or £40 without the folding scooter. Laughing
