Not true. The lamp must follow the correct sequence of operation, otherwise it is a specific reason to fail. Sauce.

In other words, the lamp must do its startup check sequence, so removing the bulb shouldn't pass.

Not true. That applies to ABS and/or ESC lamps.

How about we read the actual .gov MOT manual section on SRS, rather than a secondary source that doesn't even mention SRS.

D'OH!! Doh! I went off all half-cocked on the ABS route, when it was all about SRS. Then I went and got all Cocky McFactface about it. What a donut.

My Mrs got caught with no MOT on her first car. Garage said it had a full year on it, she didn't check as first car, they lied and it was eight months.

£100 fine, no points, producer saying she'd been stopped already and had X days to sort it out.

It does appear that's how it's normally dealt with, with £1000 being the maximum fine. Not sure about road tax, I read something about it being £1000 or 4x the cost of road tax (whichever's greater).

Be careful that there are no problems with the car other than the airbag light. Laughing

If you have breakdown cover that covers you on any vehicle then you could make use of that. Wink

Driving it without tax or mot isn't much of a big deal and don't worry about the maximum penalties as they're just for scaring people into behaving themselves, much like Micheal Jackson or Father Christmas.

I was thinking of taking out breakdown cover (as a backup) 24+ hours before collecting it, but I thought they normally try and take you to a garage rather than home? I'm guessing there's also a requirement for the car to be MOT'd(?) otherwise it would be a cheap transportation option Smile

It needs to be recover that'll take you home rather than one which will take you to any garage within 25 miles of where you've broken down. You don't want taking to a garage, you want taking home because you can do the work yourself at the weekend with your mate Dave helping.

You have to read the small print for stuff like MOT. If you know someone who is covered for any vehicle as driver or passenger then you could enlist their help.

Of course it's much easier really to just drive home without an MOT. Razz

The maximum penalties for fraud stuff is much more serious than they are for relatively trivial traffic offences.

Just drive the thing home without an MOT.

Maybe take a scroaty neighbour with you. Get him to do the driving, offer him £25 and a free feed en-route home at a Maccy D's or Burger King.

That way, if you get stopped it's his problem.

Another way, I AM NOT RECOMMENDING YOU DO THIS. I heard a tale about someone that did though. Whatever car it is, search online for one for sale that is the same colour/model but has an mot and is showing up on the mid as insured via it's reg number. Get a pair of show plates made up and drive the car back on those plates. I WOULD NOT DO THIS. It would fool ANPR/PLOD etc.

What an absolutely shitty thing to do.
Fuck over a neighbour.

Wait no, fuck over some poor sod who just happens to have the same car.

Go boil your head along with your half arsed disclaimers.

I got pulled once driving home from the pub and brethalised. While sat in the back of the car the rozzer ran my car through the machine. MOT expired 6 weeks ago. Got give a producer to bring mot very to local cop shop in the next week. No fine. No points. No shits given.

Dave G is an odd character from the West Midlands
Tritey was an odd character from the West Midlands

Maybe the latter's legacy lives on beyond what it should, but I'd stick a fiver on it not being a coincidence, if the odds were good enough.

No. I am not Jasper Carrott, I wish I had his bank account though M.C !

Jesus. I'm not claiming you're not a mid-fifties old fart. For all I know Tritey might have been a mid fifties old fart though.

He was easily goaded too. Probably just coincidence.
