Posted: 21:39 - 02 Mar 2017 Post subject: fuck this shit and I need to buy ground anchor |
 |
|
Today I woke up at 12pm and looked out of the window. The bike was not there. First thoughts it's nicked. Call police, fire brigade ( to ask if they moved it in case thought to be fire hazard because on it's side even if cover over it) and insurance company to let them know.
Neither police or brigade had it on record. I thought, FUCK- wow this is my second bike stolen.
Even the 26mm chain, both mini pins and the squires were gone.
I was confused because no thief takes the chain as well- they just want a quick getaway. It was also defo a two man job because the forks were out and so was the front wheel with the disc brake hanging from the cable and the thing on other side- speedo?
4 hours later I found out it was the fucking council who took it to the depot with no front wheel or forks. The gardener walked by in the morning and saw an orange notice on the windscreen with the cover lifted off that part. They gave a notice saying moved for immediate destruction and moved it the same fucking day??? in the space of 1 hour?? who does that? They better not have damaged anything including my squires and mini pins. the chain was shit. I don't mind that. I hope it was that they grinded through
After chasing down the council the guy who took it will give me a call back tomorrow morning and nothing will happen- he better bring it back too and I better not be fucking fined.
I'm so boiling with anger right now because this isn't my fucking fault. I'm tired of my fucking luck. I invested so much money in getting equipment and started the one fucking job I seriously needed to get done and the front stand ends up being fucking useless. What the fuck are front stands supposed to be for? Good for changing the wheel- that's it? I'm sick of needing to get something done and always missing one fucking tool. I spend 90 quid on the pair of shit and now I have to spend some more on a new fucking specialist stand?
Have people not been riding bikes for more than a fucking century now? Why hasn't somebody thought of a way to lift the fucking front of a bike up and move it easy that doesn't cost half a fucking grand- it's so fundamental to getting so many jobs done. This isn't my fault. I refuse to accept blame for this except shit luck. Fuck this shit. Rant over.
I shall cool down.
Back to the topic. It scares me how somebody took it without me knowing council or not. I felt so powerless and angry in those hours where I thought it was stolen. couldn't fucking believe it happened again. I have decided what I need first is a pair of ground anchors one on each side. and the key bit being both chain and anchor are completely covered. that way to get to the chain to cut it the cover must be lifted. I bought PIR (infrared) sensors with strong removable double sided tape to put on various places on the bike under the black cover (oh yeah that cover better be fucking ok too that was 90 quid). when it was lifted the sensors were instant and worked really amazing. Trust me- it worked fantastic- it wasn't some burglar alarm- the receiver was in my room- no false alarms ever and that was enough to wake anyone from the deepest most beautiful sleep.
The trouble was the chain was around a lamppost and so even with cover the bit of chain around lamppost will not be covered. So wouldn't have needed to lift cover to cut chain. Coupled with "ah this is a safe student city" and "ah this is too much effort, just overkill" I couldn't be bothered to put the sensors on everyday so I stopped.
(I used undoable cable ties at first which was effort- only a week ago the effortless tape which I thought I'd try arrived).
Before all the cynics start- it worked- it was fantastic- never missed a fucking beat- just didn't implement it and was punished- did the job which was to alert me and not passers by who didn't give a shit about a noisy alarm. Once I have got my set up ready if I am ever on here to report a stolen bike (which didn't involve the thieves using violence and threat to me so kind of unfair cos it wasn't fault of system) then I will eat my words.
Now I need a ground anchor but I leave this place soon and will be renting for a long while because of this cunt economy so I have decided on a double doofer removable anchor which I am told by pragmasis (yes I know it's in their interest) is better that most normal fixed anchors since has more fixing as long as the chain is through it- it is contingent on the strength of the chain.
19mm hardened is my next purchase. practical unlike my bulshit previous non hardened boat anchor chain and designed for security unlike my bulshit previous.
https://securityforbikes.com/removable-ground-anchor.php
My issue is where to put it. I want to buy one ground anchor first and try it and see how it works before I try but the only surfaces available to me are in the following pics.
We've got a brick wall in pics 2 and 5- that's a nono since a shared residential area,
we have some tiles in pic 4 too thin and also a shared residential area
There is the pavement the kind with the paved tiles- too thin in pic 6
There is the pavement the kind which sort of looks like tarmac in pic 3. In pic 1 is the kerb between the tiled kind of pavement and the road tarmac to show height of kerb (to show how deep can be drilled.)
Finally you have the concrete you might find in a school playground pic 7
I've ruled out the brick wall and my tiling at my place.
This leaves the other places to drill and test the material for how the doofer will work-
Of the surfaces which will work (which are they first) which is the best?
do I need special drill bits?
I don't care if it's not legal to even drill and test it in a public place- it's also not legal to nick a bike but what shit do police give about that, so why the fuck should I care
I am going to find a house with a garage next- are all garage floors made of concrete? What about garage walls?.
Oh and biketrac is a must- shall be bought without hesitation and no more of this safe area bulshit attitude.
be nice please. ____________________ Kymco Super 8 (125) Honda CBR 125

summary: lost keys with steering lock on, needed to drop forks, take out top triple tree, take out barrel, had only front stand so had to lay on side to do this. Kept bike on side between lamppost in that pic and road so out of pedestrian way.
cover over it and chain 26mm over rear wheel around lamppost
Now it's been taken by council- road hazard notice. sliced through chain

I would snap my steering lock any day before leaving my bike out in public overnight...
26mm ( ) chains or not. ( if you could carry a hefty chain like that to the bike, you could lift the damn front end and wheel the bike home) ____________________ The above post is most likely nonsensical.

If ever there was a case to be made for PROZAK!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I now have images in my head of police being called out to assist a Council gardener, threatened with a Boshe drill....
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And Arcane, yelling profusely at WPC stood by the door, looking bemused, when he asks her, some what abruptly if she'd push the extension lead plug back in the wall! Between rants about the bludy cobalt bit, and the wrong effing chuck-key, and baby faced coppa, trying to offer 'calm', whilst on the radio, asking for a translator, a doctor, a psychiatrist, a dog handler, maybe some-one with a tranquiler gun! ANY-ONE really who might be able to get some sense out of the lad!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
When a man fro the council arrives, and looks around, to see who he can ask where to leave the motorbike!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Coppa, asking even MORE perplexed... "What motorbike"
being told...
"The one with only one wheel!"
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
You can just picture the look of "Help! I'm having one of THOSE days! This is beyond CRAZY, this is SOoooooo far beyond Crazy! PLEASE get me out of here! I want to go HOME now!"
Sorry Aane.... but! PROZAK!!!! Go get some! Maybe a bottle of gin, at a pinch, but stay away from caffeinated drinks... like, for ever!

I don't understand, all you did was strip the front end off a bike and leave it sprawled on it's side on the pavement in everyones way, why would they move it?
https://i.imgur.com/tExQ9o4.gif
It's probably been thrown in the back of a van, left to slide around with a dozen bicycles and an old morrisons trolley piled on top, then thrown out of the van onto a yard floor somewhere. the lock and chain went straight into the recycling pile.
If you're in luck they haven't crushed it yet but they won't bring it back you'll have to go and get what's left of it yourself.
Oh and i bet the Insurance won't pay out either. ____________________ 2001 Aprilia RSV Mille R -dead, 2016 XSR 700-gone, 2018 Dorsoduro 900 |
