On another feed I saw the Police notes said that the brake manifold was insecure. Great technical insight....

Working link to #BahkLaf

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-39177488

"the motorcyclist, who was carrying a passenger, also had no insurance or tax, and their MOT ran out in 2008. [The bike had] defective rear tyre, cables were routed incorrectly which prevented steering, the seat was not securely fixed and the speedometer was dangling at the wheel"

Also, not wearing his Rainpal.

I don't think that's the sort of person that stops voluntarily, so I'm guessing he broke down at a rather inconvenient moment.

Anyway, that'll keep him off the road until he picks up another Gumtree bargain.

No you have the points AND the ban.

Ah, original linky is now working for me. Thinking

I think it's implicit that he's unlicensed as well as the rest. To be fair, whatever fines he's been ordered to pay at £2 a week (and doesn't) or community service to perform (and won't) will probably be less than 8 or 9 years of MOTs, insurance and VED. He'll have to be very unlucky to find a hanging judge who will actually send him inside, given the squawking and flapping at the MoJ about prisons being really full, no crossed fingers.

at 6 point a time for using the sat nav on your phone, you could do it quite quickly.

unless you illegally ride whilst on a ban and get a super huge amount of points for that?, jail for a bit then do the same?

He's got no insurance, no VED, no MOT (for 9 years), and the bike isn't roadworthy.

Having racked up 4 reasons why he already shouldn't be riding it, do you really think he gives a stuff about having a licence?

Incidentally, normally I'm down with the uninsured part since it makes riders more responsible for their actions, not less.

However, in this case, he's carrying a pillion that he's fairly likely to spazz given the state of the bike. The MIB will pay out to them and are unlikely to ever recover more than a tiny fraction from him, so we'll end up paying for whole life potato-care.

So, hang him, as far as I'm concerned, or at least kneecap him, make his inevitably disability payments genuine.

Never having thought about this - say you get 12 points and a ban.
The ban finishes and you get another 3 points - does that mean another ban? Or another ban at 24 points?

I'd assumed that points were reset too, not that it's ever been an issue for me.

You get the ban and the points. You have to declare the points and the ban to the insurance and if you get nicked before most of the points are time-expired, you'll be up in front if the beak to explain why you shouldn't get a ban again.

Don't ask me how I know... Rolling Eyes

Same here, maybe those GIFs were overloading their servers. Have we established why the police are shaming people on twitter? Is it to remind us they do occasionally go outside?

PR. Look, we're not not just about hypocritical lectures and daft moustaches.

Success on Peel's 2nd principle, bit of a fail on 5 and 9.

Heard on the radio last week that some 10,000 drivers are driving (quite legally) with more than 10 points, I think the record was something like 62 points.
This is because they get the 10 points, appeal against the ban in court (i.e. need it for my job sob story wife, kids, cat etc. etc. etc.). Go back do it again, lather rinse and repeat.
Had a clean licence for 2 years now so where’s my rainpal.

Never had any points, fixed penalties or even so much as a damned parking ticket in 10+ year's I've been on the roads.

Don't I feel like a f*cking mug now. Still get my pants pulled down on premiums. Much hopes for a crate of rain pal Cool

Used to be a rumour that getting 3 points could bring your premiums down, as having been caught once, you'd be a bit more careful for a while.

Possibly just pub bollocks, but the fact that Paddy is still insurable shows that there's no sense trying to figure out the logic in the system.
