If you want more money, sell it by parts not as a whole set.

I sold a 10 years old intel Q6600, with a MB, 8GB of DDR2 RAM, HD 4850, the PC case and some other bits, for about £220 total. If I wanted to sell it all at once, I'd never get even close to that. Someone even paid me for the box LGA 775 intel cooler. Razz

The 8GB of DDR2 RAM (4x2gb) alone went for £65. Wink

Fleabay (i5-4460): https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X+i5-4460.TRS0&_nkw=+i5-4460&_sacat=0

Break the computer for parts. Other bits of your list also seem valuable in the UK. I can see way more than £250. Wink

CaNsA is right though. Well, it does depend on what some define as gaming, but a mid-range desktop will always outperform a high-end (way more expensive) laptop. Plus, a desktop is easily uprageable, just swaping the GFX cards as the time goes, maybe adding more RAM in the process, and you're desktop PC will be good for gaming for a long time.

Yes gaming on the laptop will be crap in comparison. Meh, computer bits depreciate heavily, only if they become rare/sought after do they hold their value (like the x58 mobo in my intel system). My CPU/RAM are virtually worthless (the cooler's probably worth more).

Pro tip: throw the DVD drive in the bin. Wink

If he's only going to sell it as a whole then he'll quite a bit less than he could by selling parts individually.

CPU boxed will sell easily.
Motherboard and GPU will sell although the prices will reflect the fact that they were cheaper when he bought them because of the lack of boxes and in the case of the motherboard, the lack of a backplate.
RAM will be easy enough.
PSU will sell.
The tower will sell.
HDD would sell but he might as well keep it and put it in an external caddy.
Someone will buy the monitor.
The speakers might sell.

Have a look on eBay at sold listings to see what prices he could expect to get.

Computer parts sell easily on BCF when they're realistically priced and remember you won't be paying 10% in eBay fees.

If he puts parts on eBay with buy it now listings then most of it will sell over the weekend.

www.parcel2go.com is good for delivery.

How much the speakers and processor cost him doesn't come into it. Razz
