No you shouldn't buy a stolen iPhone for £25.

According to some bloke's blog, these guys seem okay : https://iphoneimei.net/unlock-iphone/remove-icloud-account-from-iphone

To check it's not dodgy first though, try these :

A £25 phone bought off facebook where the "owner" has "forgotten" their password is almost a text book example of dodgy. Wink

There's no maybe about it, the person who sold it on facebook was not the rightful owner. Passwords can be recovered or reset but only by the actual owner. If the seller had done that and it's a 16GB model then they could get £50 from mazumamobile.

At least once a week someone will come to me with an iphone they bought from gumtree/facebook/ebay.

They say it was bought from someone who got it free with their contract renewal/upgrade and dont want it.

within a couple of weeks of them getting this phone it stops working, they cant make calls, send texts etc.

Every time it's the same thing.

The seller gets free phone, sells phone, reports phone as stolen, gets replacement phone for nowt.

The buyer is left x amount of ponds out of pocket with a phone that cannot be used due to it being on the imei blacklist.

OK, well that's handy to know. Sometimes STE people get bargains off Facebook, assumed it was one of them.

There's a bargain, and then there is far too good to be true. Have you checked the prices of this model phone on ebay recently?

Ste has his faults, but he's absolutely dead on the money on this one. If you can't see it's probably nicked, you're either really blinded by bargains or have no sense of how the world works.

Repercussions?

Barry says he bought the phone of the guy who lives there and the guy who lives there says he's never seen Barry before.

I'd be surprised if the police have the time or inclination to go around trying to find who sold the dodgy handset on facebook. But they would be able to take the dodgy phone from Barry.

There's huge amounts of questionable stuff sold on local Facebook groups so be careful.

The fact it's a locked handset that was bought cheaply on facebook is proof that it's not 100% legit.
