Well, just thought I'd post about the fantastic weekend I had at my first ever rally!! Mr. Green

Yes, I went as a rally virgin, no, I didn't get found out, I'm a good liar!!! Wink And some new found friends promised not to tell anyone else!! Wink

We left Glasgow on Friday morning, me on the wee 125 all packed up with tent and everything and the other half in the car (I had the ride down, he had the ride back). It was a windy ride down and the road was soaking, so it wasn't exactly a "NICE" ride, but I did enjoy it and got to Wemyss Bay in time for the ferry!

We ditched the car at the ferry terminal and hopped on the ferry and the first beer of the weekend was downed!! 'Cause I'm just a learner I can't take pillions, so the other half scrounged a lift off some really friendly peeps to the campsite.

We got to the site in time to get the tent up and be in the pub by 2pm and that was the tone set for the rest of the weekend, my liver will certainly have some recovering to do!

The weather was crap the whole weekend, the heavens opened and I don't think the rain stopped once. The site was a mud-bath! But hey, that's why we have waterproof boots eh!

We couldn't believe how friendly everyone was! Even though we're fairly new to the bike scene, that really didn't matter to others, nor did the fact that we only had a wee 125! We'll definitely be going to more rallys, as we had an absolutely fab time! It's just a shame the weather was so crap, or I'm sure there would have been a lot more bike shananigans!

The people we remember talking to most over the weekend were from the Perverts in Leather Rally Club, what a tremendous bunch of people! If there's any of you on this site, thanks for such a great time peeps! You were all such a laugh and such friendly people! Gawd knows how you could cope with me in my drunken states!

But those poor dudes from the Perverts in Leather Rally Club got some really shocking news on the Saturday morning when one of their members was found dead in his tent! We didn't really know the fella, but he was the helpful guy that gave my other half a lift to the site and we were talking to him for an hour or so the night before and even in that short time, he seemed like such a nice bloke! My heart goes out to all those he's left behind, it was so apparent over the weekend that he'll be sadly missed by all his mates and everyone who knows him!

Really glad that you enjoyed your first rally, FA. They are good fun, are they not.

Terrible news about the guy from Perverts in Leather. Sympathies to his family and club.

Sad

Cheers Sadie, it was awesome and that was just a wee rally, but everyone kept telling us over the weekend that they are the best kind!

I know, it's shocking news for that guys mates and family and club members, we didn't even really know the fella and I was close to tears when I found out!!! Crying or Very sad

Hope you remembered to get a badge. Otherwise you might get had for the rally virgin thing another time. Wink

My next rally is Stormin the Castle in County Durham, a long run but not impossible on a 125.

Folks do die at rallys, just a numbers thing. I can think of a lot worse ways to go than in your sleep, doing something that you love after a good night with your mates.

Nope, we didn't!!!!! We paid on the gate and didn't realise until someone asked later if we got our badge, but by then it was too late!!!!!!!! Rolling Eyes

Cheers for that Stinky, I have had a look at that site and it does look great, the only problem is, it works out quite pricey for us to have to take the car and the bike as we only have one bike!

**EDIT** Just had another look at that rally site, but unfortunately there's no way we can make that one, it's the same weekend as mine and my step-son's birthday, so we've got lots of things planned already! Maybe next year!

We did think that, but it's still sad, we only knew this bloke for a short period and he did come across as one of those top people that your glad you met!! R.I.P Les!

We really can't wait until our next one, but it would be so much better if we had two bikes!! One day soon!

Don't worry about the Badge/Rally Virgin thing FA, loads of people I know go to rallies and don't collect badges. No-one will hassle you. Shame you can't make Stormin' 'cos you would have met loads of new friends.

I'm really glad you enjoyed your first rally babe.

It's something we do on BW a lot, but not so common on here. Many people will agree that smaller rallies are the best. They just seem to be friendlier, rather than being lost in the crowd at some of the larger ones.

I'd advise you to try and get to one of the bigger rallies or shows next year if you can, for no other reason than the shopping. It's amazing the bargains you can pick up.Very Happy For example, my mates dad picked up two jackets for 45 quid the pair. One fully armoured gore-tex one, the other leather. All they needed was new zips (these were shop damaged, not second hand), but the price complete stuff can be just as good.

Sorry to hear about the pervert, my thoughts to his family, friends and club.

Pick up a copy of BSH magazine (yeah, I know it's all choppers and beards, but I like it). Each month it has an extensive list of rallies, big and small, covering the whole of the UK.

Far be it for me to promote another website Wink , but a few questions on BW would probably get you a wealth of information on rallies.

I don't think there are many around the country that a BW member hasn't been to, and the events section, while not all inclusive, does have a fair list of rallies that are going on.

You don't have to register to read the events section.

Shade
Not paoching, honest.

The Diary Section has quite a good listing in it too.

Not a rally as such, but a load of us from south east Northumberland are going to Annan in October for a one night camp next to a pub and get drunk event. Usually a very good laugh. If you are interested I'll let you know nearer the time what, where and when. Very Happy
