Morning all.

I suspect this won't be the last of these threads over the coming weeks...

I bought a CBR600F4i back in November. It hadn't been used a great deal prior to me buying it, I took it for a quick spin up and down the road when I bought it and it ran fine. I brimmed it with juice, put a rag in the exhaust, and it's been stored in my parents barn since.

I came home to start the bike yesterday. I was quite surprised that it still had some juice left in the battery. However I turned it over a few times with no luck, then the battery gave up. I drained the old fuel out the tank, filled it with fresh fuel, and put the battery on charge for an hour, until it was holding a good 12V. I tried again, with no luck. The bike would turn over strongly, but didn't sound remotely interested in starting, no coughing, just turning over until the battery started to fade again. I cant recall smelling any petrol scent out the exhaust. I tried spraying easy start down the air intakes, but again with no success.

I realise there are threads on the net asking the same question, but I thought I'd turn to BCF as I have been helped in the past. This is my first fuel injected bike so I'm not am expert on the fuel system.

So far my thoughts are that the fuel injectors have gone tits up, perhaps from me turning it over with stale fuel in it? I've also read that without a fully charged battery the injectors will work poorly? Also the plugs may be fouled?

Any other ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Jump from a solid battery, stick it on to a car battery, turn key on and off on the bike to prime the pump a few times and fire it up.

And don't be tempted to play with the throttle while starting. I seem to remember they have a really effective cold start. Like 4k revs for 10 mins. Thumbs Up

If its anything like the wax idle unit on my old bike, it'll rev a decent amount for a few mins for sure.

If it's flooded then cranking with the throttle fully open for x seconds shuts off the fuel.

Can't remember what x is but it's 10 seconds or under.

You definitely switched the fuel tap back on didn't you? Shocked

^doh doh doh - pressurised system!

It's 5 sec cranking with throttle fully open if flooded (on injected bikes), but wholly irrelevant if you can't smell fuel.

Check fuses, breather hose.

There's a method of bridging pins depending on model to obtain FI flash codes for those that don't run if still stuck.

Ive had similar caused by dodgy connection to the bank angle sensor in the front fairing. Its couple years since it happened, Im quite sure she would turn but no fuel or priming noise. I was refitting the fairing at the time. Do you hear the pump prime?

Two other times she has not started instantly, holding throttle open worked.

It is very annoying. I get stuck at lights when I leave work every time, bike revving tits off in a cloud of steam. On day I will disable or remove it.
