Hi guys,
Now I'm doing a 40 mile round trip each day, I'm doing a lot of riding at 60 and 70mph (which didn't happen very often before.)
At these speeds wind is really noticable. I did my first commute yesterday and my (double) chin was frozen. Remedied that with a scarf. However, my finger-tips are still getting cold. So I was thinking of getting some handlebar wind deflectors.
I have an issue with my left wing-mirror where at any kind of speed, it turns inwards. I've tried tightening it, but it keeps happening. It's not fun trying to adjust it at 70 to see if anything's approaching from a slip-road. Anyway, I've bought some bar-end mirrors instead. (I like the look of them.)
So, my bar ends are now in use for fixing the wind deflectors. And the wing mirror holes will be empty. Are there any deflectors which fit in that hole? Also, if they do then I won't be screwing my wing mirror into it to secure them anymore, so what size screw would I need to keep it secure?
The bike's an ER5, which isn't ideal for this commute, but I don't have the means to switch to something else right now. I do have a Puig Custom II screen which came with the bike and that's improved the journey 10-fold. ____________________ 2008 Aprilia Sportcity 250 |

As it's a naked bike you could always get off road style hand guards.
I had some on my Africa Twin and also my XT600E.
Even though it was just a bit of plastic and there were massive gaps above and below. It kept my hands dry while wearing much thinner type racing gloves.
Similarly handle bar muffs. I've put them on every CBR I've owned as I've never found a decently water proof set of gloves. This keeps the wind off pretty well. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. Those look terribly weak to me and would bend at speed. They're secured from one side with a thin bit of metal. While normal hand guards and muffs have at least 2 securing points. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die.
