Hey I'm doing up a cb 500 v and I'mthinking oof doing it as a bit of a rat with some trick parts I'd like to have the tank in a bare metal look which is popular in the brat style now I have some professional lacquer from a previous resto would this stick to bare metal and stop the tank from rusting ?
also I'm toying with the idea of using a set of clocks from a Honda super 4 my question is would this be ok to use would the temperature guage be set up the same for the 2 bikes ?

For the tank, once you get it to bare metal just rub it with an oily rag. I did one a few years ago and just rubbed it with a mix of WD40 and engine oil.

Lacquer will probably make it look too shiny, if you can get it to stick to bare metal. I would hammerite the underside.

Wipe it over with ACF50. allow it to dry for 24 hours. Every year clean it off with detergent and re apply. It dries to a non sticky finish.
