Hi,

I'm in the westmidlands and wondered if anyone knows of anywhere that do bike hire? I'm in need of a 125cc for about a month or two, to get some practice in before my DAS and test. I'm nervous on tests so figure the more familiar bikes are to me the better.

Any ideas?

Cheers

For a month or two, you'd almost certainly be cheaper picking up a cheap old CG or something - it won't lose any value when you come to sell it on later.

you could probably buy an old 125, ride it for a bit whilst fixing it up. get your practise and sell it at a proffit Razz

I have researched bike hire to a fairly high level when looking for a bike for my mate recently.

The cheapest hire is about £30 per day and the smallest bike you can hire on the whole is a 500cc twin.

Also, they won't risk any bike on someone who is younger than 21 not least because they need to have a non restricted license.

I think you would be very lucky to find a bike to hire for less than it would cost you to pick up a cheap CG125 for a couple of months! Smile

You would also be very lucky to get someone to hire you a bike while you're still on a provisional.

Hhmm I'd not thought of that point.... noone in their right mind will hire a bike to a provisional Sad

My DAS starts on the 14th.... don't think I can pick up a 125 that quickly...... I'll post in the exchange and mart forum and see if I get very very lucky.

Try talking to a motorbike training centre. I did a course last saturday to convert to a geared bike, and despite being aghast at my initial pathetic display, they offered to hire me a 125 CG for £25 a day so I could practise before my DAS. I'm only running on a provisional + CBT on a scooter, and they are well aware of that.

Maybe I've just got lucky, but it's worth investigating any training schools near you. For anyone in the NW London area, watch out for a rookie crashing gears throughout thursday!

What insurance excess is there to pay in the event of a claim? And is it TPO, TPFT or fully comp insurance, and if TPFT or TPO and it get damaged in a crash which is your fault, or gets nicked, are you responsible for covering the costs?

Doesn't that defeat the whole point of having fully comp insurance? Confused

*shrug* - its their bike. I always saw fully comp as being there to replace your bike when you write it off.

Doh! Mis read that as responsible for everything after the excess. Doh!

Fully comp covers you for any damage to the bike in an accident no matter who caused the damage. Thumbs Up

Seems good deal for £25, might be worth putting the company name here as seems a good deal and Google finds stuff in here. Thumbs Up

Hi

For cheap bikes get the Bargain Pages. Should be a few in there.

All the best
