Hello BCF,

Sorry to make my first post a question but i'm hoping people might have some advice.

The neutral light on my new(to me..) 600 Bandit stops working after the bike has been running for a couple of miles or the engine gets a little heat.

It returns to life after the bike cools to ambient.

So far, I've done the following:

Remove the neutral switch and tested continuity - all 4 wires read good (the switch was cold) Cleaned and reinstalled. There is a small amount of engine oil present behind the switch.

Small bearings on the gear cam removed, cleaned and reinstalled. They push the switch out well and the springs are in good order.

Checked continuity on the bearings to earth - has resistance, yet the outer metal has good continuity.

Checked continuity from the connector block to earth, nothing from the neutral 'ground' wire and some resistance from the others depending on gear, which seems to suggest the bearing is making contact with the switch contacts.

Finally, checked the circuit past the connector by bridging to earth, relay clicks and light comes on fine, hot or cold.

Which narrows it down to the switch or the ball bearing connection - with the switch being the most likely candidate but the fact it read fine off the bike and the resistance from the metal bearings makes me wonder.

I think the next thing to do is run the bike until warm, remove the switch and try bridging the switch to earth from another point, which I hope would either work and discount the switch, or vice versa.

Before I start replacing parts has anyone had similar?
