Hi All,

my trusted bandit has started dropping a cylinder and missing at about 3 to 4k rpm.

This gets slightly better when warmed up.

Once I get though the 6k barrier its fine.

So it seems like fuelling or ignition.

anyone suggest common issue - fixes (in b4 "get another bike") Smile

Bike is K1 600 GSF - 25K miles on the clock, pretty well looked after but ridden everyday on the daily grind.

Thanks all.

Is it throttle-dependent? I'd assume a blocked jet, if it's only the one cylinder. Personally, (were it another bike, at least) I'd suggest having the airbox off and cleaning the offending carb out with something volatile. However, since it's a Gen 2 Bandit 6, the airbox is a total arsehole to remove.

Try an Italian tune-up: warm it up and thrash the everloving fuck out of it. May well clear the jet.

Yep - I hear that, I've changed the air filter and that was a mission - I wanted to drop the carbs last summer and give them a clean - I though sod that. Having said that i'll wait until easter and get the box off and throw some carb cleaner down there - I may check for cracked jets.

Ive just read about the spark plug access bore filling with water, but the carbs could do with a clean anyway.

thanks

It could be a weak mixture on the pilot feed, did you fit a freer flowing air filter?
Or it could be air going in, inbetween the carbs and engine.
