Little update on this. Things have been going reasonably well overall and I have to say I have been somewhat enjoying it.
I've been away for a weekend on it, including all my camping gear, and stuck about 750 miles on it since buying it.
It would appear now, however, I do need to give it some attention.
A few weeks ago this happened:

Lost near all the bolts out of the exhaust heat shield.
Of course the bike does vibrate a fair bit, especially when running in, so I went over all the key bolts and just checked them with a ratchet to see whether everything was nipped up as it should be. Other than the heat shield, all was gravy.
So how was I going to deal with those pesky heat shield bolts? Umm.....

The easy way
Weighs in at less than 2kg including the jubilee clip. I'll weigh the standard one when I take it off but I reckon it's 10kg!
However, all was not well - when I went outside to offer up the exhaust to the existing one for fitting purposes, I noticed my footpeg sitting at a weird angle.
Thing had wound the bolt right out If it wasn't for the exhaust it would have just come off entirely.
How can something with a bloody great M10 bolt through it which doesn't need to routinely come out not have bugger loads of threadlock on it from the factory?!
So this weekend won't be about riding now, it'll be about going through the bike bolt by bolt for peace of mind. |

Good plan. The stock exhaust is horribly constricted and eye-wateringly heavy. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Yesterday's little ride out - seemed to have a little more oomph but nothing major; but it does sound better. It's a louder thump now, rather than an apologetic sneeze.
Best of it is, it's popping and banging on the overrun I reckon if I'm aggressive enough with it, I might even get it to pip a flame out
